Trustee scholarship today $17k/ year…we are thrilled but still no answer on honors college
I got a letter in the mail today for financial aid. I fortunately got the Trustee scholarship that amounts to $17,000 per year. I’m looking to bring total cost down below $30,000 - it’s it possible to do this if I contact someone?
Stats: OOS, Undecided, 97 weighted GPA, 33ACT/35 superscored, no sports but a ton of ECs I am very dedicated to, good essay and most likely great reccommendations
Daughter got $17k Year Trustee Scholarship in Mail today. OOS got accepted mid November. Loved Delaware probably attending as she did all early actions and has all her choices in front of her right now. Still no word on Honors College, but she was right smack in the middle of honors stats so 50/50 if she gets in there is my best guess.
For those who received their financial aid information, is it just if you received a scholarship or is also the fafsa information? Is the information showing on your portal as well? I’m hoping my daughter receives her information soon.
We filled out the fafsa but I’m pretty sure my daughter isn’t aid eligible. We’re not anywhere near rich either but unfortunately they think we have plenty of money to pay $50,000 a year when in reality we don’t. She has the gpa but her SAT score was low so that means she probably won’t be awarded any merit aid either.
GPA
The one-year average, mid-50% of admitted students for general admissions is between 3.57-4.03, UD Honors Program is between 3.99-4.25.
STANDARDIZED TEST SCORES
We accept both the SAT (code 5811) and ACT (code 0634). The one-year average, mid-50% of admitted students for general admissions is between 1190-1350 SAT and 24-29 ACT, UD Honors Program is between 1370-1470 SAT and 30-33 ACT. We will superscore the SAT and take the highest composite score from the ACT. We do not require the writing portions of the SAT or ACT and we do not require subject tests.
Delaware residents have the ability to choose whether or not to submit their SAT/ACT scores as a part of their admission application.
I remembered above from the Honors flyer when we visited, just pulled this info off the Honors page on U Delaware website.
My daughter does a mix of classes but not APs at a very highly rated Massachusetts high school, OOS, 3.95 GPA UW, 1380 SAT, Education major. She was offered Honors at 2 other colleges she was accepted at where her stats were around 75% for the Honors programs, she was admitted but no Honors (as of yet) from Delaware and 2 other colleges (the average SAT at those other Honors programs was 1500 so unlikely any movement at the other 2 colleges). So that’s how I’m basing my 50/50 guess - no APs is probably a negative, but digging in for more info it seems like her stats are very strong for an education major so if the Honors college is committed to representing all majors that might be a positive.
She got multiple emails to apply to World Scholars (she had zero interest in being out of country her freshman year) and we were hoping that was targeted based on a strong application, but again who knows?? The hard part is done, she just needs to pick now and she has some great choices.
Congrats to all the admitted and hang tight if you’re still waiting. Good things are just around the corner.
@2kidsfinished and @NYYFanNowMTdad congratulations to you and your kiddos for getting the Trustee. Fingers crossed for honors but hard to believe with the top OOS merit money they would not get honors
@2kidsfinished That blurb doesn’t provide information on how the GPA was calculated. There are so many different ways that HS assign grades that you never know how colleges re-calculate. Your D’s chances may be even higher than you think. I know, also, that UMinn awards honors college acceptances based on major, so who knows…maybe UDel does the same. Good luck.
We are in a backward situation from those who recently posted. My daughter was accepted on 11/8 and then accepted to the honors college within a couple of weeks after that but hasn’t received and merit yet. We are in rural New England so hoping to hear something soon.
15k/yr Presidential, OOS, IL. Really pleased! Having looked at the scholarship offerings on the UD website, I really thought they wouldn’t offer her anything. We figured UD wasn’t going to happen because she’d have no aid since our EFC is high, but this really makes a difference!
