2025 Waitlists- expect movement (read why) and list them here

I just got an email from BC about their waitlist. I assume everyone received?

At admitted students day, they said they had admitted 100 off the WL two years ago and 200 last year (out of about 1400 students in a class). I think this was also shared in a Zoom for WL students that they hosted and posted on their admissions blog: Undergraduate Admissions Blog | Undergraduate Admissions | Wake Forest University .

This question would be better on the BC threads, here’s the RD one.

Thanks - I asked there also but they don’t have a specific waitlist thread

What did the email say?
(ETA: I see you posted its contents in the BU thread)

Thanks for the webinar link. Interestingly the presenter made these two points:

  1. ā€œbecause even just I’ll go back two years ago we’d offered admission to roughly it was just over a hundred students 100 students total that we enrolled in the class off the waitlistā€ Edited by me a bit for clarity (from the transcript, I didn’t listen). So 100 students enrolled from the wait list for the class of 2027.

  2. ā€œJust last year there were 200 offers of admission that went out to students that were on the wait listā€ So this is 200 admitted, not enrolled off the wait list. So, we have no idea for Class of 2028 how many students enrolled off the waitlist. Could be 50. Could be 100. Could be 150. Or maybe the presenter misspoke on either points #1 or #2.

Just pointing this out because details matter. Of course we wouldn’t have this issue if Wake Forest filled out the waitlist section in the CDS. Grrrrr.

Thanks so much! To you and to @slyone. I haven’t listened to the recording - do you recall them saying how many students had accepted a spot on the waitlist? Admitting 100 off the WL out of 1400 students in a class is meaningless without knowing how many students accepted a spot on the waitlist. Were there 1,000 on the waitlist - so 10% were admitted (or given an offer from the WL)? Or were there 10,000 so 1% were admitted (or given an offer)? I realize waitlists are dynamic, always in flux and there are so many moving parts – and to be clear, not slamming the posters here, just curious if Wake was more clear about the percentage of students on the WL who are offered a spot?

Thanks again, and I’ll forward the recording to my friend…

He didn’t say how many total students accepted a spot on the waitlist, at least in the area around the 11:08 mark which is where says the two points I quoted above. I didn’t go thru the whole transcript with a fine tooth comb (easier than listening for me.)

My son received an emails from BC saying Carroll School of Management is full and will not be taking students from the Waitlist

That’s weird that they would send an email confirming waitlist if Carroll is full. I am a
Carroll applicant.

Not sure why your comment is necessary. My son only applied to Carroll so perhaps that is why? He’s also international, maybe that’s why?
I was trying to be helpful by relating the info. Sorry you found it weird. My son has already committed elsewhere and we are THRILLED with his decision. Wishing you luck on your future endeavours.

I’m sorry if that came off the wrong way. I only meant that it doesn’t make sense to send a check in email for a program that is full. It gives false hopes to those that are hoping to get off the waitlist. If the program is full then it would it would be considerate to let everyone know. Congrats on his decision and I’m sorry again.

Im off the Reed waitlist! Bucknell as well.

Bucknell was an email inviting me to call the Admissions office to discuss my offer’s details, such as scholarship amount. It seems to be more of a prescreening of my interest before actually extending an offer.

Reed was both a congratulations email and a status update letter in the portal. Reed’s email informed me I will get their well-known acceptance package box in the mail, so it reads more like extending an actual offer from the get-go. Financial aid will come in a week, so I imagine I have until then to decide on it

You got into both? Congrats!

Thank you! Both wonderful LACs and I hope other folks on their waitlists will get good news soon too. I do plan to give Bucknell a call, and I will see what Reed’s aid looks like.

how do we think columbia’s waitlist will turn out this year? they accepted 200 more people and the accepted students only instagram page already has ~1000 followers

Are you saying they ā€œacceptedā€ more on the initial admissions round or have they gone to their WL?

Update: UNCSA has begun pulling from the waitlist for Drama as well. Student was moved on 4/30 from waitlisted to accepted.
