I read it somewhere, only 1200 out of 5000 decide to wait for the final round. I guess others like your son, with such good stats, choose other schools. For deferrals, even if you can get in eventually, you may not have any scholarships and financial aids. For some, this may not be a problem.
Son admitted
In state-Data analytics
ACT- 30
Gpa- 3.78 uw, 4.25 w
5 APs, no rank per school
Eagle Scout, 4 years marching band,
Exemplary leadership award, worked 2 years kings island, food pantry volunteer, Ohio State marching band clinics!
Deferred with a 4.1 gpa and 27 act, in state. Seeing the stats on deferral admissions scares me. Anyone have a prediction on if I have a decent chance?
last year there were two waves in January. A lot of acceptances when my son was accepted mid month. A lot of deferrals 1/31, but still acceptances too.
In state, direct admit to Fisher

Older daughter was in January wave a few years back - loves it
Many acceptances still coming so no worries if not tonight
