Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2024

are there going to be any more decisions released tonite at this point???

@bball2002. Probably not, I would guess. I know the waiting is hard! But remember at this point only half of the total have been accepted! There is a long way to go. But I am not great at waiting, so I understand how you feel.

My only question is what does “Evaluation” mean. Does that mean they looked at my application, but want to look at it again? Or they just skipped over mine or something?

My understanding is business is one of the toughest colleges to get into @ OSU!

@cowboylover49 Well, my application status was in “evaluation” right up until it was accepted. I imagine it just means it’s in the process of being decided.

@jKirschnick That’s not a denial! I know LOTS of kids who started at Mansfield or one of the other satellites. How do you feel about that option? You have a strong ACT but your GPA is low compared to it. Maybe they want to see some college courses under your belt to match That great ACT score of yours.

Does anyone know of anyone who applied to the Scholars program and have heard back yet?

I got accepted on the Nov 15th wave and I sent in my acceptance fee shortly after that, maybe around the 20th. My portal updated to Attendance and I got my “You’re a Buckeye!” congratulations letter in the mail. However, that letter arrived before I sent in the acceptance fee.

Here is what the portal says when the status says Attendance:
You have confirmed your intent to enroll. Additional information to continue the enrollment process will be mailed to you soon. Welcome to Ohio State! Go to http://undergrad.osu.edu for further information on what happens next.

I have not received any further communications from OSU through email or snail mail since that updated.

In addition, I have heard nothing about Morrill, Honors, or merit scholarships while several others in this thread have.

Should I be getting worried or should I just resign myself to more waiting?

The problem I have with OSU is, for example, the nursing program (and lots of other pre-majors). They admit several more students to the freshman class than will ultimately be accepted into the program or major. What happens to the students who spend their entire 1st year worrying what will happen if they earn a 3.7 and then don’t get accepted into their “major”? That is the big problem I have with OSU although it is admittedly a school that is very attractive to students throughout the country. Any thoughts?

The other problem I have with OSU is that the freshman acceptance rate is less than 50% but their transfer rate is more than 80%. In other words, they say no to a Freshman prospective student who is not qualified to be accepted to OSU as a Freshman but will gladly admit the same student after their first year at an inferior college. What is that all about? That doesn’t make any sense! Help me out

Our in state son was admitted tonight! tOSU was #1 on his list.

Very proud of him! Thanks to everyone who contributes to these forums, the info has been very helpful!

Best of luck to everyone waiting!

@music394. My son is in the exact same position (except he got an additional letter regarding his acceptance into the engineering school). Need to be patient here and remember that about 25,000 acceptances need to be managed here for a while, and that OSU is very decentralized (much is handled at the college level). Is there critical information you are waiting for, or something someone here can answer for you?

@brutus111. Hmmmm…I know dozens of current and past OSU students and I have never heard of this being a big problem at all. And most colleges, for competitive programs, admit more freshmen than the program can accommodate because the programs are challenging and/or the demand for this is much more than can possibly be met. So there should be a strong ‘weed-out’ process because the educational path itself will weed out those who are not the strongest students. What is your source of data to support your claim?

Congrats to your son @SirGem! My son is headed there too for engineering. We are lucky to have such a strong engineering school in our state flagship. Go Bucks!
