Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2024

When do engineering decisions typically come out ?

Because engineering majors are strongly encouraged to apply EA, engineers start to hear early (late November). However, I think they can hear any time from then until March or so. I know a set of twins with almost exactly the same stats, ECs, etc. - both engineering prospects. One got accepted in early December (undeclared engjneerjng), the other, early March (computer engineering, I think). No idea why so different. Both are current freshmen engineering majors at OSU and doing well.

Hey guys, I’m not applying to OSU but I am a high school senior doing dual-enrollment on OSU’s main campus, so if you have any questions about the Ohio State experience I’m happy to answer them.

Hi! I applied on October 22nd, 2019 and my application was completed on October 25th, 2019! I am an Out Of State applicant. My GPA is 3.635 out of 4. I have taken all Honors and Advanced Classes since Freshman year, I took AP US History(got a 4), and am taking two Dual Enrollment classes this year. I am a member of the National Honor Society, secretary of Art club and French club. I am also apart of the Medical Explorers, a club through the Girl Scouts, weekly volunteer at a local hospital, and have been in 4-H for 12 years! tOSU is my first choice! I also applied for Honors and Eminence Program!

My S20:
EA, chemical engineering (so, pre-engineering)
3.95 GPA UW, 4.575 W. School does not rank, but probably top 5% reports by GC
1510 SAT (790 M)
Two varsity sports, all 4 years, Strong musician (member of band placed by audition)
Zero leadership or community service activities
In state
Hope is to be one-and-done. OSU is #1 choice.

hi @AStudent223 I have basically the same stat’s haha. I’m hoping to be accepted as a biology major with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine. Honestly so nervous… really hope my test scores and class ranking are good enough. Fingers crossed!

How are decisions released? Do you get an email or do you just have to keep checking BuckeyeLink?

@RosellaW The portal will update first and then you’ll get an email a few days after that.

Hello, I’m an in-state student applying early action, I’m hoping to hear as soon as possible but I didn’t submit my application until October 16th so I know I probably won’t hear right away.

Intended major: Public Administration/Philosophy, Politics, and Economics
ACT: 32
GPA: 4.2/4.0

Looking forward to when everyone knows if they got in or not!

We are OOS. My daughter applied Early Action. Submitted her application Nov 1st.

GPA: 4.005 out of 4.0 scale
Rank: 62 out 334
ACT: 25

Major: Biology

Current application status: Evaluation

@dmjordan1229 I am not so sure that when you apply dictates when you’ll hear (if EA). I knew twins last year who applied on the same day, but heard 3 months apart! The one who heard first had a bit stronger stats and a less popular (but still popular) major. Very stressful time for that family! Both are current freshmen at OSU.

Not to encourage obsessive portal checking, but you could hear soon. Especially if your stats are really strong (my experience with kids at our HS is that the really high stats kids hear soonest). My older son, who squeaked into OSU and would never have gotten in now, heard VERY late (April). This is all anecdotal…so certainly take with grain of salt.

Hello! Starting this thread to help connect OSU applicants currently awaiting a decision this cycle! Please feel free to comment any info you have on decisions, and please tell a little about yourself!
Me:

Those are my number stats, though I have a TON of extracurriculars I have been a part of for years, as well as lots of leadership and county-held titles.
