@momofsenior1 EA is not the same as rolling admissions. Rolling means they respond as applications come in and it’s typically a shorter wait time. OSU is EA which simply means they don’t respond until after a given date. Response processes and timing for EA vary amongst schools. Some do it better than others.
@NYCDadof2 I wouldn’t know about waiting around for snail mail. I received a phone call in October of my senior year with my acceptance to my first choice school. My mother thought it was a prank call. lol And I only applied to 3 schools. (And sent one of my applications in ripped up and taped back together because I did’t want to go there.) Those days were much easier. I would never have gotten into my alma mater now!!
is OSU harder for out of state kids to get into than say UW-Madison is? (just got deferred from there)
I apologize if I offended anyone by venting about my frustration with the admissions process. That was not my intent…just venting because this is an anxiety-producing process, which some on this site agree with as well. OSU is a fine institution and one which my child would love I’m sure. Happy holidays to all. Good luck to those waiting and hearty congratulations to those who were accepted!
No worries, Pelorider.
Wishing you and yours all the best and
Happy Holidays,

So for deferred students does Ohio State look for a letter of continued interest? I know some schools do not want any further communication but for others it is very important. I can’t find anything for osu about this online so does anyone know?
Do you have a state OSU admissions representative you can call? From what I remember from a brief discussion, they are open to receiving updates on new, significant accomplishments (awards, impactful extracurriculars, etc.) My understanding is a group of professors meet to discuss deferred students and I imagine new information added to a student’s file could help.
Yes, I believe the admissions rep for my area is Jackson Strick. I do not have anything significant that has happened recently but I got all A’s my first semester of senior year and finalized the fbla competitions I will compete in. I was just thinking it would be good to let them still know they are my number one school.
@weezyg35 I suggest reaching out to your rep to discuss the most impactful course of action to allow you to convey your deep interest in the school – and just as, if not more, importantly – that you have been continuing to work hard and have seen good results. I say “more importantly” because they claim they don’t put weight on interest. I would absolutely convey your interest, but I would also mention your strong senior year grades and your work on the competitions. You can run these things by your admissions counselor, and he could tell you if it would be helpful to share this information. He might also be willing to share some insight as to what the decision-makers consider when looking at deferrals, and this could help you to tailor your written communication accordingly. My nephew did this when applying to college and it might have played a role in his eventual acceptance into his alma mater. Best of luck, and good for you for going after what you want!

Any chance there will be admission decisions released 12/27 or are offices closed for the break?
I doubt it, but I believe offices are open. Academic calendar shows offices closed 12/25 and 1/1.

It seems that they released in middle of months. If so, the possible dates are Jan 17th and 31st like last year though I cannot rule out Jan 10th completely.
Anybody think there will be a release tomorrow?
They don’t take letters of continued interest or intent, called and asked
DS applied EA on 10/23 for

Best of luck to those that are still waiting!
@Harding Thank you for sharing your info, and sorry you didn’t get the outcome you wanted. We are instate and I talked to several kids home for the holidays who were in your shoes last year. They all are in a great school and doing very well. I am certain the same will be true for you!
Thanks CypressPat. He’s heading to the Kelley School at IU and is thrilled.
@Harding - Kelley is great school. Was he able to petition in for direct admit? Curious your thoughts of the two schools as am considering both…thanks and congrats!
