Admissions Discussion/Decisions - Class of 2024

Has anyone seen a Facebook group for any Learning Communities? I applied for the Morrill Scholars LC and I hadn’t seen any FB groups.

There were 48 more admitted from last week although no one reported here. Couples on each department but most likely on Arts and Sciences since they were 28.

Are those EAs or RDs? (those newly admits)

Most likely RD because they aren’t re-evaluating deferred applicants until the middle of March.

So basically all the EAs have been released?

Not all of them. Deferred applicants will hear the final decision at the end of March according to the admissions counselors. If you applied RD, decisions will probably start coming out near the end of February into the beginning half of March. I’m not sure of the exact times but I believe most if not all RD decisions are released before deferred decisions.

Based on last two years records in CC, RD is likely coming out from 3rd or 4th weeks of February to end of March. Some Deferred may hear at the end of February but most likely in March or later. At the end of March it seems like mixed; accepted, denied, and Waitlisted. For the 48 admitted in last week, I am not sure if it is RD or still EA. They said EA should hear by end of January but some EA heard after January so they might finish EA by last week. Who knows.

The big question is , how many of those admitted commit? Also do some of the deferred drop out and does OSU get notified if you commit to another school?

In 2018, 24,493 admitted, 8,483 eligible to enroll. (34.6% yield)
In 2019, 25,605 admitted, 8,400 eligible to enroll. (32.8% yield)

  • Columbus campus, new 1st yr students, full cycle admissions cycle.

Not really sure what “eligible to enroll” means, but it’s slightly less than “acceptance fee paid”.

OSU is not automatically notified if a student commits to another school. It is up to each student to notify OSU. But anyone who has not paid the admittance fee to OSU by May 1 is assumed to have forfeited their acceptance.

So you could move from deferred to waitlisted and it sounds like if your waitlisted you would find out after May 1st

I hope they give deferred students somewhat of a chance especially since we applied earlier.

Will there be any RD decisions releasing this week? I’m so frickin anxious rn. I applied EA initially but due to late arrival of test score I am in RD batch. Hope I can get in ASAP so that I can take the next step. I feel like there are many competitive applicants and only a few spots for RD.

@excellentee - I contacted OSU admissions office last week regarding RD decision release date. They told me it will be around mid March. Hopefully we will find out the results in three weeks.

I contacted them too. They always say it will come out by the end of March. But some EA was not out until February so it is not hard for me to suppose some decisions would be released after March.

I got in . RD, couldn’t be more happy

Son just got in, was deferred! OOS, Linguistics

Congrats!

Just checked my portal! I’m IN! OOS, RD, Athletic Training! I’m so happy and excited!

Son got in after being deferred! Biochemistry. OOS from CA. Only about a 3.4 gpa (not sure exact) but a 1500 SAT and rigorous course load. Also a lot of music and extra curriculars. But I guess it is possible with a low gpa…

My son is delighted that he received an email stating he was accepted into the business scholars program. Does anyone have any idea when they will be notifying OOS applicants about merit scholarships?
