My s18 is OOS, applied to OSU EA, for fall 2020 got an email on 11/15, saying he has been accepted and a details would be sent by regular mail soon
My s20 is already complaining that the mail takes too long and that they should work on Sunday’s, too. Not know for his patience.
@rrrgsp welcome and congratulations to your S20! Just a friendly FYI that the number means the year of HS graduation.
Thank you @Cheeringsection. It seems so obvious what the number means, but I couldn’t figure it out!! I kept thinking it was an age. lol

how do merit/scholarships work with OSU? honors college/ or scholars program? when will we find out?
Last year’s threads…
NOTE: Main thread confirms my recollection that EA decisions were released once a month, NOT bi-weekly, last year.
Nov 16, Dec 14, Jan 18, and then last one Jan 31
Can’t speak for EA applicants specifically, but for sure at least one person in our HS got notified on Dec 28th last year, and another in mid (not very late) January. Can’t recall if those were days when many kids heard. These coincide with important dates for my son’s friends, which is why I remember. Maybe there are ‘mini-waves?’
@cypresspat The mid-Jan one was probably in the Jan 18th wave. Can’t explain the Dec 28th one. AND of course, there’s no guarantee that this year will be same as last year. Personally, I’d be checking every Friday regardless (if D20 hadn’t already heard). Just didn’t want people to get their hopes up for a bi-weekly release.
I know a lot of people dont scroll back but I just wanted to put my 2 cents in. I have one son who already graduated from OSUand an S20 who was NOT one of the lucky ones to get a decision on Friday Nov 15. That being said, some of his classmates and friends HAVE gotten their decisions. Ive had a few people call me in a panic and as Ive told everyone and I hope to put y’all here on this board at ease, dont panic until you get a DENIED or a WAITLISTED. I know it is hard and trust me, we are anxious here as well, but truly…they can only do so much at one time. It is a big school but it’s all OK until you get denied. So good luck to all and let’s pray they do more frequent releases than monthly. GOOD LUCK
I am wondering the offers are sent out according to the last name. My son got admitted on 11/15, his last name start with “C”.
Definetly not. DD16 accepted 4 years ago on 11/16, name starts with P, DS20, still waiting for decision. Patience is the key, and getting busy/ distracted with all senior year events makes the waiting easier. Having a couple other acceptances already, helps too?
I know a kid who received the offer in Jan, still got in the honor program. they just send out offer randomly?

Agree with @captusica . Last year, D19 heard in Jan wave, another student in her HS heard in Dec wave, both last names “C”. This year, D20 heard in Nov wave, last name “C”.
Trying to make sense of the order of the releases is really impossible, though I am sure it will be a constant discussion throughout this thread. The only logic that IMO comes into play is that the Nov wave is most/all acceptances and the late Jan wave is largely deferrals/rejections. Last year, there were some rejections in the Dec wave and some acceptances in the late Jan wave. But even that assumes that College Confidential is a representative sample. (I’m sure it’s not.)
