I think @Youdon_tsay and I were the two Greg & John fans in this group.
I appreciated their intellect and their approach to working through challenges. They were kind and respectful towards each other, as well as towards the other teams. After all of their life experiences (studying abroad and knowing French, pulling on their music composition education in the dance challenge, knowing Seattle from spending time there during a college internship, learning ASL while working for Google, “debugging” challenges, etc.) it cracked me up when one of them commented that maybe they will start taking trapeze classes when they return home.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole episode. Really exciting. I really wanted Rob and Corey but love the team that won. They are such great, incredibly well-rounded guys. It was a really great season.
+1 to this season being enjoyable – the locations and challenges were pretty much spot on. And it is so nice when the final teams are all so likeable. I would have been happy with any of these teams coming out on top. I got the sense that everyone in the final three groups felt proud/appreciative of their journey and experiences on TAR which is a nice thing.
I wasn’t surprised at the final result but wow did it go back and forth during the episode so kept me guessing. I’m impressed Rob persevered with the trapeze because that would get harder with each try flexing those stomach muscles to get those legs up. I would have been taking the penalty.
Did anyone read how close the three teams were? I think team 1 said 120 seconds to team 2. wondered about Corey and Rob because they just showed them saying they were lost but no follow up. I hope the other two teams find a way to market their popularity and get something monetary out of it beyond the $25,000/$10,000 prizes.
My favorite line was from the people Joel and Garrett (I think it was them) asked at the gas station and the guy said “It’s the Amazing Race!” all excited.
My family was split between rooting for Greg and John and Corey and Rob. It was nice that they seemed to have formed a genuine friendship off camera. My kids were so impressed with Greg and John and the way they worked through problems while being so positive towards each other and the other teams. They certainly rep Amherst and Northwestern well! Both schools would do well by featuring them on social media.
Just saw on the Holderness instagram that a fundraising campaign has been set up by Joel Strasser to raise $ for a service dog - it is through a site called givesendgo.com. Yeah!
Loved this season! Excellent finale - I too was rooting for Rob and Corey as well as Joel & Garrett - now I’m going to find the service dog fundraiser and kick in…my company will match, so that’s a bonus! https://www.givesendgo.com/SmithFamilyServiceDog
I loved this season. I would have been happy with any of them winning. I enjoyed the camaraderie between the remaining teams and I think they all liked each other.
I did really like this season but I think I was in the minority and thought the finale was a little lackluster. I don’t know, it didn’t have the intensity to it.
Can’t remember the last time we saw the scramble - did we see it before? I wonder if the driving choice of Corey and Dad did them in because they seemed to do decent timing on the tasks.
I didn’t dislike the brothers but found then a little off putting for some reason. I gained a lot of respect for the guys friends and of course loved dad/son.
Will never turn down a season of Anazing Rafe to watch!
For the Amazing Race fans here: you might like “007: Road To A Million” on Prime. Not quite like TAR, but teams go to exotic locations around the world to locate and answer questions to win prizes.
Something to keep us occupied until TAR returns
Do I imagine this - or are contestants barred from revealing that they are racing for “the show” - which is why you always here everyone using the same rehearsed phrase almost verbatim:
“We’re in race, a race around the world, literally for a million dollars”.
I saw an interview with Rob and Corey and they did get lost driving which cost them enough time that they ended up third on the last leg. They felt it was harder to get someone to stop and give them directions at night.
Ironically I felt less tenion during the last leg because I liked all three teams and could be satisfied with any outcome.
Speaking of cultural cues, very glad TAR gave up having contestants lose their money and forced to go begging on the streets. People from (comparatively prosperous) US begging on the streets from people who don’t have 2 coins to rub together was a very bad look.
Wouldn’t Joel and Garrett have won if they hadn’t mixed up those two kayaks? John and Greg stopped long enough to hear them being told it wasn’t correct.
Did John and Greg have to wait until Joel and Garrett completed the trapeze challenge? Again, it seemed like they were watching Joel and Garrett (and saw them fail). Did they take turns and that was edited out?
I saw Corey shared a “go fund me” for the service dog - maybe between the two fundraisers they’ll raise enough to help another family!
Corey and Dad were ahead of the brothers after “Grunge”, so I think they lost time blowing the glass and they seemed to have gotten lost finding the kayaks.
Impressed that the Beards got the trapeze done in so few attempts. Knew that the brothers were going to rip through that one.
