In the past, a lot of of the show has been the transportation, time in the travel agency buying tickets, at the airport waiting, sitting in the airplane…now they travel like Samantha on Bewitched, with the snap of a finger and they are there, all together. That leaves more time to show every thing every team is doing and thinking.
I love the show so much I don’t mind the 90 minute episodes and I don’t even mind what might feel repetitive to others. But I’m also the person who loves behind the scenes stuff too.
I was thinking about some of the coolest things I’ve seen on TAR…
This past week was the plastic bottle recycling bikes. Why aren’t we putting these in every park and school playground?
A few seasons back was that incredible recycling project (was it in Sweden?) where there were full sections and areas of recyclable goods. Why aren’t we doing that?
What other cool things have you seen that could make the earth a better place?
I agree about the plastic bottles and bikes! Heck you’d find a bunch right at the playground! Or school at recess!
Sorry to see who sent this week but was thrilled to see the winners get a shot at a prize. My claustrophobia would have did me in this week
I was wondering how the mom (or anyone else!) didn’t hurt her legs falling! I’d have been petrified!
I wonder if there was some understanding that after X minutes, the soccer players would go easy on the contestant. The mom would have been in trouble if her opponents went all out.
That’s what it looked like to me.
I would like the bubble soccer challenge in the way I like bumper cars. I’d be knocking down and moving forward. It definitely looked like they went easier on the mom. I know the rules allow helping but the alliance and Amber helping the others really annoyed me. I wish someone had done the fingerprint challenge. That looked really cool. I’m not vegetarian but I hate touching raw meat. And I was watching how much some of them touched with those gloves still on after they finished the challenge.
Sorry to see the grandparents go but not too surprised as they seemed the weakest of the non-alliance teams left. And I agree it would be great to have those bikes in parks, etc. They can’t be that expensive.
I kept thinking the smell of the meat would have done me in!
I am ok with teams helping each other out a bit - but that alliance was too much IMO. I really think the mom/son team would have had a very difficult time getting through this leg without the alliance - she definitely wouldn’t have solved that puzzle, given the heat and the time. And it did look like they went really easy on her during the soccer challenge. That somehow feels wrong to me.
With the grands, it was interesting that he picked the lasso challenge telling her she could do it, but he was the one who couldn’t. He definitely was the weaker contestant among the two of them.
This episode (since it was a mega leg) was ok for the 90 minutes. Less filler.
I agree that I was surprised they didn’t choose the physical challenge - the bike pedaling.
I’m OK with the alliance. I feel like it’s when I was a marathon runner. We committed to run as a group up to a point, and then when the going gets tough, about mile 18, everyone ran their own race. I think once it gets down to five or six teams, people will start being more independent.
There have been other alliances in TAR and Danny & Angie and Amber & Vinny were shown helping each other in previous episodes. I wonder if more attention was drawn to alliances in this episode because they had to fill 90 min.
Way too much filler tonight. Too much airtime spent on welding and driving. I learned more about welding than I really wanted.
I’m a bit disappointed in who was eliminated, but the editing made it apparent very early in who was going home.
Next week - Barbados!!
Amber needs to think twice about marrying Vinny after the way he treated her in this episode. What a jerk.
I’m hoping when Sunny or Bizzy are responding to a fire that something or someone else is doing the navigating. “Sorry your store burned down, we went to 5 other plazas and a port first.” Poor Juan. I can’t imagine racing the day after food poisoning. Amber needs to run far away from Vinny. And also stop whining. (Although I read they’re currently planning their wedding
.). I could relate to forgetting where they parked their car though…. I feel that Danny’s navigational skills are going to propel them into the final 3 and maybe even 1st place. If Angie can avoid any physical tasks and the final challenge is a memory challenge they will win.
I glanced at Amber & Vinny’s Instagram accounts last week to find out a little more about them. This week, I went to see if they added anything and both Instagram accounts are now private. His has a picture of himself while hers has a picture of them from TAR.
Maybe they were getting a lot of backlash and decided to go private. Agree they don’t seem to be a good match but feel they both have their faults - he controlling and critical and her so frequent WHINING!! She sure comes off as not feeling good about herself and that’s not ok!
Also agree that the episode REALLY felt long and the challenges sort of mundane without any excitement.
The firefighters were doomed by their navigational skills. Couldn’t believe how bad they appeared to be at this!
I think Vinny and Amber are providing the drama this season. I like the mom and son but can’t see them sticking around if there’s any significant physical challenge. They are very good with navigation and that is I think their salvation right now considering all the others including the NFL guy and the pilots mess up constantly on this.
The boyfriends also have great navigational skills and seemingly complementary TAR skills. Surprised the pilots have marginal navigational skills. I guess the computer tells them where to fly. Hard to watch Amber and Vinny. How can he be a nurse with such a lack of empathy and abundance of arrogance (sounds like a wannabe surgeon, lol).
