Amazing Race Season 30

Looks like next week the teams will be switching partners. I don’t see any way that that’s a good thing… :open_mouth:

Bummed to see the violinists get eliminated. I really liked them! Too bad Team Yale didn’t do the lecture option. They would have aced it.

The partner switching should be interesting. I wonder what other twists are in store as Phil mentioned new challenges ahead.

Do they switch for an episode, or for the rest of the race? Not sure I like these twists, but I’ll hold final judgment until I see how it works.

^^ I agree. I have to figure they get back with their original partner at some point. Or maybe there will be a bonus million if you agree to finish and risk the race with the switched partner!

I do really like the all female team - no fuss, no muss - just working hard. I too was sorry to see the violinists get eliminated.

Is it just me or does the engaged woman rub anyone else the wrong way??? They are portraying her to be a mother hen and sort of annoying to her fiance!

It’s not just you…

I FF all the way through that engagement clap trap. Actually, I FF through the endings too LOL.

I think they are going to switch for either one leg, or maybe even one task, and reunite at the mat. I wonder how they will decide on the new pairings.

Ugh! Big Brother!! Yale was so close!

And Henry actually solved the puzzle first that would have given Yale the win had he not made a last minute change. That was an exciting finish, though.

Sorry, I was rooting for almost anyone except Yale. I loved Henry, but Evan just grated on my nerves!!!

I’m glad Jess and Cody won! He showed a compassionate, caring side of himself that was totally absent from his Big Brother persona.

I wonder how Henry felt once he saw that he had the correct configuration, but changed it without getting it checked first.

Team Extreme were the best overall competitors throughout the race, but it’s the team that crosses the finish line first that wins.

Great season, and hope it is not the last. I felt like Evan got a bad edit, which bothered me as it plays into the stereotype of a super smart, driven woman. OTOH her constant shouting at Henry last night would have been really irritating (and I have felt that way when that happened on other tasks with other teammates). I don’t understand why Henry didn’t just ask for a check, but it had been a couple of hours at that point and clearly he didn’t know he had it.

I have to give it to Cody, he came through not just with the strength challenges but also with the puzzles. He was the one that figured out the Washington Square Park thing (unless they had help from bystanders). I was not routing for them, but certainly deserving.

I did not find Evan all that annoying and admired Team Yale for coming back from a previous U-turn and a speed bump to make the final but agree that she was a little high-strung last night.

Remember Brooke from Season 29 who yelled at Scott throughout the whole race? She goes down as the biggest whiner in TAR history for me followed by Flo from Season 3.

It was a very typical anti Evan edit. I agree it is just stereotyping (not just gender, but intellectual), but Jessica had the Kardashian type edit (duumb with fake breasts) so that evened it up for the girls. Frankly if I was Evan, I would have been happy with the edit as a foil for Jessica, as the latter just looked nasty on several talking heads. Also to me, it looked like COdy did all the heavy lifting. I am assuming the puzzle required luck more than strategy.

But Evan, why the nose ring? Just WHY?

The negative thing about the last task was that it really seemed to end up being luck, not skill or memory, that got Jess to the win. She did come through, but yes her edit was as the supportive, ditsy, pretty girl while Cody was the challenge beast.

Did anyone else think the finish was in SF? I looked up to see where the USS Hornet was and it’s in Alameda. That side of the bay always gets the short shrift. They certainly didn’t show them driving across the Bay Bridge to get there. Or did I miss something that Phil said?

Finally catching up on the last couple of episodes that I’d recorded. I have to admit that I was disappointed that Cody and Jessica won. They were my least favorite team and I would have been happy to have either of the other teams win. It’s especially sad since Henry actually was the first one to complete the puzzle correctly.

I had the distinct impression that Cody really carried the Big Brother team and when I looked up the roadblock totals, it was true! He did 6 and Jessica only did 3. With the way this season was organized, only 9 roadblocks really benefitted them since she was incompetent at many of the challenges.

^^Yes, Jessica really seemed to just sit back and let Cody do it all - most of the race. I’ll give Cody the credit for being a beast at some of the tasks and determined and focused. BUT he still creeps me out. He was kind enough to the country people they came across but dude is SO flat. Even at the finish line…barely nothing in terms of emotion. I really don’t want to see them show up on another reality show!

I was rooting for Evan and Henry. Evan may be dominant in the relationship but…so what? Maybe in terms of this type of competition but maybe he shines in other areas of the relationship. I think the other teams were intimidated by their brains!

The girl team was pretty awesome too. I was actually a little disappointed that they seemed to team up near the end there and not stick on their own. I actually give Team Yale credit for not relying on other relationships - just their own.
