Mackenzie Hallelujah #33
Trent Drink You Away #34
Dalton Dancing In The Dark #50
Not exactly slaying the iTunes dragon at this point, but at least they are in the top-50-- for now.

So the finale is spread out over three days:
A retrospective special on Tues 4/5 that will have interviews with former contestants and judges, including Paula, Simon, and Randy;
The final showdown Wed 4/6 between the last 2 contestants;
and reveal of the last winner Thu 4/7 with a TON of performances by lots and lots of former winners and contestants.
The most conspicuous absences will be Kelly Clarkson, who will not perform live due to advanced pregnancy but filmed a medley of hits during her last appearance that will be aired; and Philip Phillips, who is suing the show/label. Too bad as he is probably the last semi-successful winner the show had.

Justin Guarini! Bo Bice! Melinda Doolittle! Kimbereley Locke! SANJAYA!
I’m having flashbacks–I think it will be a good show! I think I am more interested in the retrospective and the finale performances by old-timers than by who wins this year!
I think the talent of those old-timers (well, most of them) is going to make this year’s disappointing crop look even worse by comparison.
I haven’t really enjoyed AI since Simon left. The parade of terrible judges and ever diminishing talent was depressing, and as the seasons went on I found myself rarely watching an entire broadcast, but instead reading recaps and looking at videos of touted performances. I’m sure anyone watching the show for the first time this season would be completely mystified at the notion that it once had massive ratings and was endlessly entertaining. Now it will be remembered as much for its sad decline as for its early success. I hope The Voice producers have the good sense to go out on a high note instead of letting their show dwindle into mediocrity and low ratings.
While I’m not always happy with the outcome and we’ve had our parade of “judges” over the years, I truly will miss this yearly season and habit. Lots of great memories for our family.
BTW, Mackenzie will be releasing “Roses” as his first single - he recorded it today! If he had made it to the finale, AI was going to allow “Roses” to be his coronation song - the first time they would have allowed an original song.
Since there is no tour this year hopefully they can all get to “making music” a little quicker - and before America forgets about them!
This AI retrospective is great! Tune in!
Idol and the Voice are both on… (But Idol is a series of old clips tonight)
But it’s all kinds of new stuff, with new interviews with Simon and Paula and all the early contestants. Awesome.
I thoroughly enjoyed that history - really, you should watch it west coasters!
I didn’t watch the first season so didn’t realize how the “infancy” was. Great reminders of past contestants, surprise elims, judges (totally forgot about Kara!) and lots of interesting comments and such from people like Simon.
One thing I keep “hearing” in print and now tonight by Simon Fuller - do you think they will try to revamp AI in anyway in the future? They seem to keep alluding to the fact that it’s not gone forever, etc.???

Yes! I noticed that. I give it a year or two, and on to the next AI program.
When he said what would a new AI look like, I said, The Voice! lol
Or at the very least coaching sessions with Jimmy Iovine!
Biggest mistake: getting rid of Jimmy!!!
I’m disappointed that a “favorite” of mine isn’t in the finale - takes some of the excitement out of it!
I will lean a little towards Trent - just because of the diary - how cute that he had a leather notebook that he kept all the judges comments in!
Dalton was very gracious in leaving and congratulating the other two. He’s my Idol.
I am pulling for Trent, but think it is locked up for LaPorsha.
Current iTunes ranking;
Trent “Falling” #7
La’Porsha “Battles” #15
Wow, some the the old Idols look so different I didn’t recognize them!
Also want to say I still love Alison Iraheta–I always wanted an Alison/Adam finale that year, but it was not to be. The duet they did in the Top 4 Episode was great that season (Slow Ride, it’s on YT). She has been a backup singer on Idol for a few years, but I always hoped she’d break bigger than she has.
Yeah, I am having to watch really carefully for the names because I don’t recognize some of these people AT ALL. There definitely were a couple of years where I didn’t pay as close attention.
Boy, I thought Ruben sounded great. And that year of the three divas was fantastic. Some I remember why they didn’t win. ;
It definitely was the Nick Fradiani year I didn’t watch much …
Simon, Randy, and Paula.
And William Hung. :x My kids loved him. We bought the CD.
