Haven’t watched the show in ages, but H loves it. Tuned in last night for the finale -very entertaining. The highlights for me were Kelley Clarkson, Carrie Underwood (didn’t understand that first number with Keith Urban but still liked it), and the rock singer guys.
In other this year’s Idol news, Mackenzie’s self written song “Roses” made it to #5 on iTunes yesterday!
The next step for all these Idols is HARD WORK. Winner or not, they have much hard work ahead to stay relevant, visible, etc.
I was hoping that Haley and her friend with the upright bass would have sung together. He’s the guy in her season that weirdly almost passed out when he was saved to continue another week. Other than that I really liked him and her.
And yes, why didn’t David Archuleta sing? He was one of my favorites, too.

Liked Casey during his season on the show-- right from the get-go. Haley Reinhart also, but it took me a few weeks to “get” her. Once I did, I was hooked.
I thought Haley was a phenomenal singer, but I always was annoyed that she constantly did the jazz stuff-the growls, and all that. But what an amazing voice. Seemed pretty full of herself, however, it’s all what they choose to present, I think.
Enjoyed watching the finale, but I thought they just had too many former Idols there, that we barely got to hear from. I would have liked to hear less of them, sing more. At first, my husband said that he thought Kelly and Carrie were tied for top Idol singer ever. After hearing Kelly sing, he said, okay, she’s best, but Carrie is a close second. After hearing Carrie, he decided she was a distant second. She was off key for part of her performance, but when you look at her, she is so absolutely gorgeous that you can overlook that easily.
Loved hearing Kelly sing again. I’d forgotten just how amazing she is.
Maybe the “FOR NOW” comment will result in a new version of AI that includes Kelly or other Idols as judges - she did a great job when she was on! And some of the Idols have been excellent mentors. I’d be all over that idea!!!
