American Idol's Final Season! Shall we watch together?!

A little ticked off that they let Jessica go - she was the one whose parents came from Puerto Rico (??). She has always done so well and they just kind of skirted past her last night.

Dalton seems like a sensitive soul. He’s going to have to beef up his confidence. I think I read somewhere that he has had a history of depression or other mental health issues - point being, I hope he can feel good enough about himself AND take the criticism that is American Idol.

I think Dalton, Mackenzie and Lee are all adorable and sort of swoon-worthy when they sing!

Love Mackenzie!

@abasket I agree with you about Jessica. It’s more than a little ridiculous that she didn’t make it and Gianna did. I’m happy that several of the kids I liked made it through.

Since we only got snippets of the top 24 “showcase” performances last week, thought you watchers might enjoy these live, uncut versions - SOOOO much better than what we saw on tv!!! I watched Dalton’s first and am totally in love! Also interesting to look at the view counts of the various performers (to see their popularity) - Mackenzie’s blows the others out of the water!

I am going to see the taping of American idol on Thursday 2/11, the part where the old idols sing duets with the top 24. Keep an eye for me out in the crowd!

^^^So cool! How’d you score tickets???

Sign up at “on camera audiences”.

Edit to add: “On camera audiences” is a website.

Are you going to be the one wearing the YoHoYoHo tee shirt?

I so feel for the parents watching their kids up there on the stage. That would be on the one hand, so thrilling, and on the other, pure torture.

Wow, Emily was disappointing tonight.

^^^^ Yeah. What happened?

Jordan is hitting some sour notes, too.

Oh geez, that was painful.

sonika has such a pretty voice just to listen to . . . and la’porsha was entertaining. i like her! emily was just off. i think duets will be fun.

I have never been a fan of Jordan. He looks so much older than 27 to me. I don’t know what audience he is supposed to appeal to. And he really overdid that song in a painful kind of way! Emily was awful, too. And she has been really good before. Maybe it’s the curse of “The Voice” since she sang a Cassadee Pope song. lol

My guess of the ones going through (in no particular order) are Stephany, Sonika, MacKenzie, Geneve, Thomas, LaPorscha, and Avalon. Or maybe not. I left out Gianni (Brenda K. Starr’s daughter) who will most likely make it. So that means one of the first seven I listed will not make it. I am not a huge fan of Geneve but they seem to like her a lot. Hmmm. This is harder than I thought.

I watched and thought the show was interesting - yeah, a couple of really off performances. But I peeked and saw which 5 get voted off (this was pretaped) so I don’t want to comment “too” much!

But a couple comments:
Thomas needs to quit that “affected” thing at the end of each line.
Harp girl - how is she going to fit on a pop show? Her style of music, her appearance…
And while I love Avalon, she is going to need to “fix up” a bit too on stage.

@Nrdsb4
I’ll be dressed as a pirate, ruffled shirt, eye patch and a parrot perched on my shoulder.
Just started watching now and I’m surprised that the production assistants put such boring looking people right behind the judges where the are going to be on camera all of the time.

In another year in the past at a taping of am idol, the PAs asked my DS if he wanted to stand up by the stage (so that the younger, hipper kids get on camera) but he said no.

^^^ Love your outfit!!! Just refuse to participate in the hand waving thing - DRIVES. ME. NUTS!!!

Yeah, and this may be a controversial subject for some.

I totally get that she doesn’t want to look “girly.” As for makeup, on camera, with lights, I think it would be to her benefit to wear some makeup that would be intended only to make her look like her natural self, vs. washed out by the lighting.

As for clothes, wearing sweats on a live TV singing competition…come on. She doesn’t have to wear sequins or dresses or boots or conventionally sexy clothes. But she can look sharp and youthful and attractive and stylish.

I think of Ellen De Generes. She refuses to wear dresses. She’s an admitted tomboy. And yet, she looks amazing every day on her show. When she hosted the Oscars, she dressed up, on her terms and in her own way, and looked beautiful.
