Any Survivor Watchers?

Once you repeatedly describe yourself as a “legend” ummmm, you’re going home!

Jelinsky definitely did himself in. However, I wonder if that was the right move at this point in the game. Jelinsky got off to a bad start, but is a big, strong guy. Seems like Jess did not bring anything to the tribe. May have been better to vote her out and keep him to help win some challenges.

I think if Jess can get some sleep her skills doing puzzles will be more important than Jelinsky muscle. He did not have the physical or mental wherewithal to push through difficult tasks. I really expected someone from Vegas to be a bit more savvy than he was at the deception game and not capitulate in a couple of minutes. His comment about not having the ability to lie (in a game) was a real foretelling of his ability to last.

At the thing when one from each tribe drew a card, Jelinsky gave in to foster goodwill with members of the other tribes. I think he was looking too far ahead, playing an individual game where, on at least day ONE, you need to play the tribal game just as much.

Jess seems like she is getting an edit similar to Emily - someone who doesn’t have her head in the game (literally), but eventually learns how to play.

I like the energy of several of this season’s cast members. I think Tevin is a great narrator.

I was a little underwhelmed by the first episode…I think I’m craving an “all stars” season - or some returnees! Agree on who went home - he sure did get a lot of air time I thought for going home first.

Kind of loving the guy who just recently became a citizen. The real estate agent seems quite competitive and a little high strung! Also like the upbeat music guy….wonder how Harvard “lived in a bubble growing up” dude will do.

Totally agree about the new citizen. And yes, an allstar season would be great.

What did we think of this 2 hour episode? Seemed a bit too long. The challenge looked really hard and the losing team would have been well served to have Jelinsky rather than Jess. No real surprises.

Wonder if there will be a swap next time? Otherwise, hard to believe the losers will become winners.

I like the 2 hours but it seemed FOREVER until we got to the challenge. Maybe there was some foreshadowing we were to take from all those conversations- like the one woman on that tribe who said her foot got run over in the challenge - that’s a bummer, but her total vibe seems full of angst for EVERYONE and EVERYTHING.

Since I’m not working right now, I really liked the long episode, luxuriously spread out over two days. Usually it takes me forever to remember who all the contestants are. I think I now remember most or all, and plenty about alliances so far.

Agreed about the very long wait for the challenge, and also about the toe woman.
She seemed to be humanizing at least some when she formed an alliance but too much self-pity for me to enjoy her at the end.

And back to 90 minutes

Commercials, oy!

This episode was really stretched to make it to the 90 minutes. They really didn’t have enough stuff (so they included stuff from 4 days before).

So sorry for the medical evac. Tough on that contestant. Had really thought that one of the other teams might have lost. Wonder if there will be a swap next week.

I wonder how much effort there is to initially place members in the original tribes. Big fails the last 2 seasons as there were clearly 2 “loser” tribes. It’s not just physical ability but also mental strength/fortitude. The bottom 3 of Yanu were clearly odd ducks.

Three seasons ago (Survivor 44), the “losing team” ended up going to the final four. That was the season with Carson, Carolyn and Yam Yam.

I see potential weak and emotional players on other tribes as well. Because of the long episodes, we’ve see more of what is happening on other tribes which helps. Otherwise, we get to a merge and have no idea who people are.

I thought the insight into Hunter was great just before he dominated that challenge. Can you imagine his parent’s post on CC? "Help! My son is giving up a full ride to med school to become a teacher. "

Hunter is my early favorite. Bhanu is a sweet wackadoodle. I feel bad for the medical evacuation but agree it was the right call.

I cannot watch another episode with so many Bhanu minutes. It is so painful.
