Any Survivor Watchers?

How do you watch Australian Survivor?

Network 10, the network that airs it, gives me access to its programming

15 days??? :open_mouth:

That’s the rumour

Watched the premier last night, I’ve never watched before

I have questions :joy:

Have no idea if this is a no spoiler thread, I’m so confused

Discussion after the show airs is totally fine

I’ll be watching either tonight or tomorrow night!

Bring on the questions!

I watched last night. What questions do you have?

I was bummed that Jon was voted off. He sounded like an interesting person.

Is anyone familiar with Aysha? It sounds like she is/was on RHAP. If so, that’s a very popular podcast and I’m surprised more people don’t recognize her.

Yeah, I would have voted out Andy for sure.

I watched because of Jon. It’s been teased on his podcast.

He seemed like an affable, intelligent and knowledgeable person. Who communicated very well.

If I was watching, it seems that maybe there were new viewers like me.

I looked up his Wikipedia page. Math degree from Williams, speech writer for Hillary Clinton and Obama. Screen writer for tv. Founded Crooked Media which is worth 100 million dollars. Pretty impressive imo.

and they kept Andy? Why?

I wasn’t hooked, I didn’t understand the whole looking for stuff in the woods. It didn’t explain very well why Jon was voted off and seemed as if would be Andy.

They’re looking for hidden immunity idols, which can be played for themselves, or someone else, at Tribal Council. But they have to be judicious in when to play; many have been voted off with an idol in their pocket.

In Survivor, there are challenges that tribes need to win in order to avoid having to go to tribal council and vote someone off. Most challenges have a physical component and a puzzle component. It sounds like they kept Andy because he was strong. At least early on, then need that strength in order to win challenges. For example, last night, the strength would have helped in turning over the boats or grabbing the heavy objects.

Jon is obviously a very successful and intelligent man. He was hiding that because who wants to give a millionaire a million dollars? Also, a person who is successful often feels threatening to others.

Good episode. I thought Jon was great and was sad to see him go.

Great explanation, thanks!

I read the vulture synopsis, love those. Some of the comments were from people like me, who watched for Jon Lovett and didn’t see the need to watch more. The article said that he was one of the most famous people to do Survivor, which I don’t know is true but I don’t watch. Not sure he’s that famous either.

When they said the prize was $1 million, I thought that someone like Jon would donate to charity. He doesn’t need the money.

The best part of his Survivor journey to me was when he came back from Fiji and pod save America did a fact or fiction about what happened while he was out of touch. That was funny!

Are you allowed to share that link?
I will miss Jon.

I’d have to look back on PSA podcasts but it’s been teased that today’s pod will address Survivor. Said that they never laughed so hard.

I’ll
PM you the episode

Well boo! I have never watched Survivor and was only going to because I am a huge Jon Lovett fan! But didn’t realize it was on already and heard last night accidentally that he’d been the first off.

I’ll have to listen to a couple of my favorite pods (Pod Save America which he does with the other Crooked Media owners, and his own, more comic one, Love it or Leave It) to hear him discuss this.

He’s definitely one of the smartest, and funniest, people I’ve ever heard. And kind and gets what’s important. I was kind of surprised he went on the show because he’s definitely not the physical, outdoors, type, but he loves reality tv and challenges.

Anyway, now I don’t have to watch at all. So, that’s a plus

Other celebrities have done Survivor - some are more famous than others.

Personally, I think Mike White is the most famous person to be on the show.
Lisa Whelchel (Facts of Life) was also on.
Jonathan Penner has been on the show three times.

There have been several well known athletes including, but certainly not limited to, Gary Hogeboom, Elizabeth Beisel and Jimmy Johnson
