Any Survivor Watchers?

Damn. I really wanted to see more of Jon. Gonna be hard for me to pull for you at all now Andy!

Wasn’t there a scene early on when the yellow tribe got back from the initial challenge and they were all in the water washing off…didn’t Jon say sort of specifically what he did for a living? And none of them seemed to have a clue who he was or of the podcast???

I’d encourage people to continue watching! If I had to give up all reality tv except one show (and probably 75% of what I watch, though I only watch 1 - 1 1/2 hours of tv a day is reality) Survivor would be the show I’d keep. It’s SO interesting, such a social game, cut throat, interesting personalities - having strength and smarts can be an asset - it can also get you voted off.

Bummer for the show tho, cause I imagine many people WERE watching just for Jon!

I totally agree. Just about the only network TV I watch.

He definitely told others that he had a podcast. I might be remembering it wrong, but wasn’t in front of everyone when Jeff asked supposedly random people to introduce themselves? Didn’t they air Andy and Jon? I’m sure they asked more people to introduce themselves but only aired a few.

As is the case in a lot of reality TV, Jon was cast to bring viewers and publicity to the show. In turn, Survivor made sure that their fans were aware that Jon has a podcast. I’m sure he gained some new viewers.

Yes he did say it then standing on shore with everyone but he went in more detail with his tribe in the water.

There is another podcaster! On Rob Has A Podcast - she was the one from the red team who went on the challenge.

Also Jon is a Survivor super fan so the appearance surely benefitted the wishes of both sides.

Aysha. I’m surprised more people don’t recognize her. RHAP is a very popular podcast for Survivor fans. Considering many of these people consider themselves to be super fans, I assume they’ve watched RHAP.

So what did you think? Good choice IMO.

I am still kind of astonished to hear the magic words, “I’ll just tell one teammate about the idol I found.” Haven’t they watched the show???

Agreed

Jon was hysterical and thoughtful talking about his experience on his two Podcasts. I definitely recommend listening to them. He’s also a very astute political commentator. And funny. My go to listens for my weekly long drives.

I eventually watched the episode, but it’s just not my cup of tea. Everyone is so scheme-y and it all seems so faked–(I know it isn’t, but…). And Probst is just unwatchable to me.

I doubt many Lovett fans will hang around now, which is too bad because it would have brought in a new group of viewers.

Anyway, hope the Yellow Clan crashes and burns, so I’ll keep an ear out for that, lol.

Can you please post a link of Jon’s podcast in which he talks about Survivor? Thanks in advance.

This is the link to his own show, Lovett or Leave It:

And this is the link to the episode of Pod Save America where his co-hosts chat with him about it:

I hope you can open these. Not sure where to direct you otherwise.

The shows have other segments, too, not just about Survivor. LIOLI is comedy with political overtones, PSA is political commentary.

PSA segment was very funny. Mostly the other hosts delight in roasting Jon.

Thank you so much!

You’re very welcome! Enjoy!

I skimmed through one of these. I like him saying that he marked his calendar - starting 9/18 ribbing will begin by everybody he knows.

Well, the yellow tribe actually won the immunity/reward challenge! Interesting scenes with Andy and Sam - separately - finding the immunity idol/challenge.

Glad to see the person voted off go. Survivor is NOT the show to think you’re Charles in Charge of everyone!

I mean, Survivor IS about scheming…but it’s also about a physical, social and emotional game - all those things can help you or take you down.

Oooh, edited to say how about that yellow tribe member attempting to pocket some rice on the challenge?! Can’t say that I blame her! Omg, the way she was looking at the raw rice so longingly!

Interesting exit interviews with Aysha. I guess I must have missed who was working with who on that tribe.

I’m surprised they didn’t let her get away with taking the rice. It was clever. Why use rice (vs sand) in the first place?

Did Genevieve find anything on/under the bench this week?

Chaos!

Just finished this weeks episode. Chaotic indeed.

I cannot tolerate Rome.

Me neither.

Looks like Aysha was right when she was targeting Genevieve, she is a smart player. No way anybody can believe Sue is only 45 (which is what she told her tribemates).
