Here’s a story line for the new season - if there is one. Sarah meets with wild success and gets a ton of money while Adam can’t find a job and heads towards bankruptcy. Angst ensues as he can’t handle her success.

cartera, sounds good, but I hope that doesn’t happen. At the same time, Crosby and Jasmine could reconcile and be happy and would no longer carry the “screwup” mantle.

BTW, dh asked me and I didn’t know. What does Crosby do for money, besides sell things? Does he have a job?

I thought the scene with Max and Sarah was priceless.

Crosby is a recording engineer. I hope he can bring himself to shave before next season.

The best thing about Crosby is that IRL Dax Shepard is engaged (possibly married now) to the adorable Kristen Bell (Deadwood; Veronica Mars; Forgetting Sarah Marshall; early death in Scream 4).

That’s right! It’s been a while since he’s been in the studio.

Exciting news. Jason Katmis gave an interview saying they are just waiting for the official word! Highest ratings since the premiere!

I’m glad the ratings were high but that isn’t at all surprising that it “won its hour” considering Detroit 187 and The Good Wife both finished their seasons earlier and weren’t on last night!

I enjoyed the episode more than the previous few but the storyline about Sarah’s play and the reading is so far from believable that it really colors the whole deal for me.

mdemvizi: Great news. I can’t wait until September!

Actually The Good Wife hasn’t finished its season yet - it comes back the first week of May for May Sweeps. But it was good that Parenthood’s competition was not there this week.

But I agree with alwaysamom on Sarah’s storyline. I don’t know how I feel about this whole play thing. Where is it going to go? They live on the west coast so they can’t really bring it to Broadway right? One thing the show has never discussed is what the family thinks - do they like having their lives sort of put on stage?

I really don’t see Adam allowing his adult life in a play but I see all the siblings making the sacrifice to be on display for her success. Not a truly believable storyline though.

I liked the episode a lot but need to stop watching when I’m working out tears and exertion feel weird!

I cried too…the scene at the play reading when Amber got up and walked out followed by Sarah and they both fell apart…really got me.
Also the junkyard scene.

Agree that Max has changed from quirky kid to annoying kid since his diagnosis.

I gave up watching The Good Wife for Parenthood. Hope it’s back next year.

Hmm, I wonder how ratings are affected by folks like me who watch both Parenthood and The Good Wife on On Demand later in the week on my day off?

mominva, I wonder that, too. Tuesdays at 10 this year has been the one hour that has had three shows that I enjoy. I usually watch one and DVR the other two. Sometimes I DVR all three if I’m going to be out. Not sure how this factors into the ratings.

Just got around to watching the finale (thanks, DVR!).

I agree with everyone about Max - the angry, bratty outbursts are too much. He is not a likeable character anymore.

Loved the grandpa’s talk with Amber… So glad she’s finally “getting it.”

The play thing is ridiculous. I also thought the Julia-helping-the-pregnant-woman storyline was kind of dumb. I have always wondered why adoption didn’t come up right away when she found out she couldn’t get pregnant again… Happy for them, though! They are such a good couple.

I hope Adam can move on and find a better job (without a wackadoo boss!).

Crosby and Jasmine getting back together… meh. Minka Kelly was growing on me! ; -)

The more I watch the TV show and read this thread, the more I yearn for Parenthood, the movie. I watched it last night, yet again. It’s so wonderful–funny, poignant, entertaining. The TV show is fine, but it really doesn’t compare to the movie. Any thoughts?

I love that movie, but it’s been years since I’ve seen it. The movie and the TV show are good in their own ways.

We put the movie on one day, thinking it would be safe to watch with Grandma. Umm, the power outage scene, the car crash scene and few others were uncomfortable moments, funny, not with my kids and our generation, but with out parents generation.

I love that movie

I’m not a parent, but as a 17 year old girl, i love the show. I cry pretty much every episode, haha. The junkyard scene and the scene when amber leaves during the play reading made me almost bawl. I agree that jasmin shouldnt get back with crosby, and max is not a likeable character.

Another possible story line–Zeke wants to take off somewhere to be in a show. One of the reasons Zeke has been so supportive of Sarah is that he kind of had this dream of being an actor. (He’s the one who knows the Dreyfus character.) What if it’s not Sarah’s play that ends up getting picked up, but somebody wants Zeke to play some part. I can see Camile (that’s his wife’s name?–the Bonnie Bedelia character) being less than enthused.

I have less trouble with the play line that the rest of you. Remember, Sarah is supposed to have been a good song writer. Plus, the English teacher character is the one who told her it was a play. He helped her with the draft and then the Dreyfus character made her rewrite it several times. And you know, this is just a READING, not a production. Whenever there’s one of those “new play” series, they always want to include at least one newbie’s work. Our old receptionist wrote a play that got staged at one of those festivals; it was her first play too…not unheard of.

GOOD NEWS: Parenthood was renewed for a third season! NBC has hope in this show and I think it’s small but continuous fanbase is helping it. Looks like we’ll be seeing the show into it’s third season.

Reminding all you Parenthood fans out there that the new season begins Tuesday night! NBC at 10 P.M.
