Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

That’s my point. ‘Perfect’ kids make mistakes, but she didn’t hesitate, didn’t seem pushed by her friends, nada, ziltch. She reached for those jello shooters like a piece of candy and went right back for another like it was no big deal. I would have believed it more if there was some sort of process…perhaps a fight with Alex or her parents, pressure from her friends, anything. I thought it was really, really sloppy writing.

I agree too many stories. This story could have waited for another episode, as could have the sub-plot of Crosby & his ‘special friend’. I think they were trying to cram every storyline to make sure everyone’s favorite was shown so they caught everyone’s attention early. Come on! People will tune in week two if they don’t see their favorite highly featured in week one. Hopefully they will get back on track…and find a new hairdresser!

Well, there was the disagreement about the party while they were registering for classes (or whatever that was). Left the impression that she wanted to embrace senior year, and he was being a bit of a drag (I dated an older guy in college, so I understood what she was feeling). And then they argued a bit in the car. But, yeah, she was way too quick to down that shot and take another.

mimk, the relationship between Jasmine and Cosby was left unresolved. He tried the Buy a House Hail Mary, and she didn’t just fall all over herself and say, “Yes, yes! I love you!” So we didn’t really know what would unfold.

did Camille have a face lift? She looked loads younger than last season. Bothered me.
Also, I think a passing coment was made about Amber working at a restaurant–something with pancakes? but could be wrong about that.
Sarah having such a fit about the condition of the apartment was not real to me–obviously with such talent in the family it will turn out quite amazing and fun.
Still–so glad they are back!

I like this show, but it’s nowhere close to Friday Night Lights.

I agree about the awful hair. Most of the storylines were very unrealistic. Did anyone else think it was strange that drunk teens would call the police over a punch? In my neck of the woods all the kids would have been breathalized and gotten alcohol citations.

^^^ Right? Kids are drinking illegally, and the cops are called over one punch? Seems ridiculous, except the parents may have called, but then they’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do.

Yep, I was bothered by the fact that the cops only arrested Alex.

I thought the best part of the show was when Camille reminded Sarah that Sarah had missed her 40th birthday party and why. Thought the Sarah meltdown, running after Amber and saying yes, I’m going to miss you was also good.

The rest of the show was a disappointment.

Agreed Jonri. The later scenes with Sarah/Amber/Camille were very good. The rest I’ll overlook and hope they get back to what we love about the show.

Y’all are a tough crowd! I loved the episode.

I thought the reference to Friday Night Lights was cute when Max was talking about knowing there would be alcohol at a high school party given all the connections to FNL.

BUT did anyone else think Camille looked younger and different?

I thought she looked different too but couldn’t figure out exactly what was different.
Was it the hair? I didn’t like hers either. Wish they’d all go back to last year’s styles.

I agree that she looked different/younger. I assumed it was one of those Doris Day lenses.

I agree she looked different/younger. It was particularly noticeable when she did the public service announcement during one of the commercial breaks. Her face looks thinner.

What? No comments yet? 15 minutes into the show on the west coast and I am wondering how it works that a family whose home was full of drunk underage high schoolers is choosing to press charges against the guy who was trying to pick up his incredibly drunk GF. Doesn’t that open them up for more investigation into the party and the booze?

^^I agree, somemom. It’s sloppy writing, which is one disappointing feature that has carried over from last season. There are many things that I love about this show but there are also always things that irritate me greatly and that is a prime example.

^^^^ I raised that last week. Doesn’t make sense.

Anyone know the actress who plays Zoe, the coffee girl? She looks so familiar. I guess I’ll look her up.

ETA: She’s called a “relative newcomer.” I don’t recognize any of her previous credits.

The actor who plays Max is simply too old to be playing a fourth grader. His info on imdb lists him as being born in November of 1997, making him almost 14 years old and it is obvious he is much older than fourth grade. They should have at least made it fifth grade, but it was clearly an elementary school evidenced by the playground equipment, the fact that Jabbar and Julia’s child were there and the curriculum which gave it away to anyone who has gone to a California school or had a kid in one – California missions is taught in fourth grade.

You’re right Mimk, I did not even think about that. There are schools which are k-6 or even k-8 so they could have made it more realistic or are they mainstreaming him into a younger grade somehow?

I don’t know about you guys, but I always get stuck on what should be a reality check for their writers, if they spent 1 day on CC. With so many media stories about parents of party houses being charged, you would think they would be aware of that risk. And would the parents have known about his record? Not that the law necessarily obeys rules of commons sense, but who is really in the wrong, the host of a drunken teenage party or the kid who tried to help his GF and threw a punch.

somehow I had assumed he was in middle school, but maybe that was my mistake since Sarah talked about him starting this year at the new school.

We were trying to figure out what grade he’s supposed to be in. It was obviously elementary, but Max and the girls in that class looked older than fourth grade. I could see mainstreaming him a year younger, I guess, but yeah, he looks too old.

I’m sure the parents didn’t know about the previous assault. I assumed their lawyer found that out.

I can’t wait to see Christina’s reaction when she learns he didn’t take the job. And what is Sarah doing for work these days???
