Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

Thanks, Mimk6. Yes, now I do remember the last episode.

The mention of thirtysomething put a smile on my face because I was in advertising, I was thirtysomething and starting my baby years and that TV show was one of the first I watched regularly as I wasn’t a huge TV watcher. I also loved Northern Exposure. Glad Parenthood is back, hope it can keep it’s edge and not get too silly as I haven’t had the TV on much all summer but I’m going to stop and watch Parenthood tonight.

I blame Hattie.

YDS I Agree, hated that scene

did not like Hattie’s hair either

^^… or Amber’s.

Really disliked the hair too.
Hard to believe Hattie would do that after all she’s been through to be with the bf.

Everyone’s hair was awful! Lauren Graham’s hair looked like it was living under some repressive dictatorship. And Crosby and Peter Krause, and the other husband with the beard? Bad hair all around! (Not Cute English Teacher, though.)

Yea, what’s with all the bad hair. Was that the only way they had to represent everyone was in a different place in their lives? News flash…it’s eight months later and peoples lives have progressed!! We must change their hair!! I was surprised Haddie didn’t even hesitate to take that jello shot. There was no peer pressure, no ‘aw, maybe I shouldn’t’. They certainly didn’t portray it like the first time she’d had alcohol.

Was anyone else really turned off by the continual term ‘buy the baby’? Even my 16yo son thought that was really off. I get saying it once just for effect, but it was several times. They needed to move into adoption lingo and out of dollars for babies.

Jason Ritter is totally charming on this show. It almost makes me forget the debacle of The Event.

As much as I was looking forward to last night’s episode, I had a feeling that I probably wasn’t going to love it. I always prefer the episodes that focus on a limited number of the characters and last night’s, unsurprisingly, threw everyone into the mix. As a result, it felt disjointed and unsatisfying on all storylines. I understand that it’s tricky reintroducing everyone in the first of the season but still disappointing. Part of this is my own wish for more of my favorite characters, and I acknowledge that. I’m hopeful that the coming episodes will spend less time trying to give everyone ample facetime.

As for the hair? Yikes. Even Camille, whose hair I have always loved, looked terrible.

Did I miss something about how Amber was going to pay for an apartment?

Oh, one more comment. The Alex incident. Really? Was it really necessary to start off the season with an instant crisis on that front?

I wasn’t impressed and was so looking forward to the episode. My husband wasn’t going to be home last night and he asked me to wait and watch with him tonight. I told him I would even though I knew I would watch live! I figured I would watch again with him; but yikes, no interest is seeing it a second time.

Hopefully the story lines will pick up next week. It does seem like the writers wanted to give everyone a story line from the start and crammed it all in an hour. I am guessing Alex will have a bigger part this year other than just Hattie’s boyfriend? The haircuts bother me and I couldn’t take my eyes off of the girls’ hair. As far as how Amber was paying for the apartment, I don’t think that was mentioned, but I assume she has a job.

I didn’t feel like last season and this season connected. Usually there will be mention of what happened in the past, but i thought they just advanced forward half a year or so, with no mention of how they got there.

Is the English teacher Jason Ritter? Was it Ethan Hawke last season? For some reason I had that in my head.

I liked the episode, not the hair.

It was Jason Ritter last season, too, youdon’tsay.

Didn’t like the hair. I am OK with not knowing what happened the last 5 months, I am sure whe will find out soon enough. I also think this was kind of a “setting things up” episode and will be better from now on. I think with Haddie they were showing that even though she has always been this ultra-responsible girl, she is still young and will make stupid mistakes. I like Jason Ritter too.

really like Jason Ritter as the adorable teacher, he’s very believable…didn’t find Kristina’s fast forward into working while pregnant very believable. she previously came off as pretty dependent, overwhelmed easily, but somehow is managing her job, pregnancy and husband being unemployed calmly, doesn’t jive with her personality.

felt so bad for Alex in that scene. Hattie’s drinking shots while expecting Alex to show up was off too. a more typical teen might have “texted” him not to come, rather than let him be present for that. unless she has become tired of him. writers seemed to try to hard to show that time passed…

The Hattie drinking seemed out of character. That was my only problem. I would think that she’d be hyper-aware of the issues involved because of Alex. I also don’t buy the threat by the boy’s parents to press charges when they apparently knowingly hosted a party with underage drinking.

My DVR didn’t record the very end. Can anyone fill me in please? It stopped when Adam told Crosby he was offered the job, while they were standing in the studio.

over30, you should be able to watch online. I don’t remember the exact order, but Adam and Crosby are goign to go into business together. I think it was after that that we learn Alex has a previous arrest for assault so this could be big trouble for him. Oh, and Cute English Teacher stole Amber’s diploma and brought it to Sarah. Obviously, they’re going to start dating.

Yeah, that bugged me, too. And why didn’t the cops arrest any of the underage drinkers? Surely it was obvious to them that many of the kids were drunk and there was alcohol all over the place inside.

I can’t remember where things were left between Crosby and Jasmine at the end of the last season. Anyone remember?
