I’m wondering what this item means for Parenthood in terms of Jason Ritter’s involvement with Lauren Graham (Sarah). I’m all in favor of another Jason Katims show though.

I’m hoping that NBC picks up County. Michael Imperioli was so, so good in Detroit 187, a beautifully written and acted drama. He deserves to be back on primetime. If it is picked up, Katims should hire those writers.

Could you help out this old bag?
After the doofus discussion, I realize that character is named Crosby but I just cannot remember the other characters’ names. (I also now realize it is “Sarah” who used to be married to the guy from Sex and the City and Northern Exposure–don’t remember his name either). Who are the couple who want to adopt? Max is the aspy kid, but what are the other kids named? Names of actors will only confuse me more.

Zeke (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille (Bonnie Bedelia), the parents
Adam (Peter Krause) and Kristina (Monica Potter), and their kids Haddie (going to Cornell?) and Max (Asperger’s)
Sarah (Lauren Graham), her boyfriend Mark (Jason Ritter), and her children Amber (Mae Whitman)(not in college) and Drew
Julia (Erika Christiansen) and Joel (who cares?), their daughter Sydney, and now apparently an adopted child
Crosby (Dax Shepard) and Jasmine (Joy Bryant), and their son Jabbar

Sarah’s ex-husband is Seth Something. That’s John Corbett from SATC and Northern Exposure.

Just read this: Maura Tierney, the actress who played Kelly McPhee on Rescue Me was the original Sarah in Parenthood, but was replaced by Lauren Graham when Tierney began treatments for breast cancer.

Yes, that’s true, vitrac. Maura, who is probably most well-known as Abby Lockhart on ER, had to leave early production of the show due to her surgery and treatment. I was disappointed because I think she’s a much more talented actor than Lauren Graham and this role would have been a good one for her. She has, however, done a lot of theatre since so I can’t complain. :)

I started watching the show in large part due to the fact that I wanted to see Lauren Graham! So I don’t even know if I’d be watching otherwise. Not a huge ER fan.

Happy to hear Parenthood got picked up. Surprised by NBC’s decision but it is a stable 10pm drama.

Katims’ pilot County got passed over during Upfronts which means Jason Ritter (Mark) could still be around for this season and him and Sarah could be engaged. Who knows what will happen.

In a bit of casting news I just picked up on, Ray Romano is going to be a regular from season premiere onwards. Apparently he will be a counter-rival for Lauren Grahams attention with Jason Ritter.

Gotta say, I find this casting extremely odd.

I think Ray Romano will be great. I don’t like the Lauren/Jason story line, and don’t like Lauren’s character generally so he’ll be an asset in my eyes.

In “real” life, Ray Romano is 9 years older than Lauren Graham. Jason Ritter is 12 years younger than Lauren Graham.

I like Jason Ritter’s character too, and he’s way too young and adorable for Lauren Graham’s character. I can’t see the attraction there by any stretch of the imagination. I don’t see such a stretch for Lauren/Ray.
