Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

I know! He has facial hair!

Good show! The scene in the car with Max was so heartbreaking. Sydney’s tantrum felt very real. Stop smoking pot and go to class Drew!!! His hair looks better but I still want to cut it. Why do all these men fall all over Sarah? Ray Romano is excellent. I think Camille is going to change her mind about the house. I am thinking they must be mad at the actress who played Haddie which is why she has disappeared. The previews were very scary. Do you think Joel only likes strong powerful alpha women?

Natalie is obviously right? No way.

Of course I have no idea what Lauren Graham is like in real life, but the parts people write for her or cast her in always seem to involve a level of relentless, high-volume flirtatiousness that, in the real world, would get a woman tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail, or at least committed to a psychiatric facility. Except, I guess, maybe in Hollywood, where men can’t seem to get enough of it.

Lauren Graham is super-cute, no question about it. I’m sure if she came on to me the way she comes on to everyone with a y-chromosome I would be pretty smitten, at least for the 10 minutes before I reached for a DSM.

I do sometimes wonder what the Sarah character would be like if Maura Tierney, the original Sarah, had stayed in the role. (Graham took over when Tierney developed breast cancer.) In a way, I think using her as the replacement was a mistake because superficially the role is too much like her role in “Gilmore Girls”–single mom with teenage kid(s), habit of talking over other people, trying to find self as kids are growing up, never can find Mr. Right–and the guy who is probably Right (Luke) won’t commit.

I like her interaction with Romano. Someone upthread said she saw no “chemistry” between them. I find their relationship LOTS more believable than the one with “puppy” Mark or Dreamy Doc.

And I WISH the Sarahs of the world were tarred and feathered, JHS. But that hasn’t been my experience IRL.

In Graham’s real life, she’s involved with Peter Krause (Adam).

Does anyone else find the Joel moving out story line unrealistic? Their marriage seemed so strong and then one little blip happens and he leaves? Did he lose respect for his wife when she stopped working? I don’t get it.

I don’t get it either. Joel was always my favorite character, until now.

I guess i’m having a senior moment but what was Zeke’s big confession? Echoing what others said, that scene where Kristina got into the back seat with Max in the car broke my heart. I just can’t imagine how I’d handle that.

Really thought all the scenes with Joel and the kids were well done but I did want Joel to tell Victor that NO things didn’t start spiraling downward when he joined the family. That was Victor’s fear and Joel said a lot that was right but didn’t specifically say that.

Just as Joel is behaving uncharacteristically, I think Drew is too. Makes for a good and, in some ways, a realistic story line and also allows for development between the siblings but this change in Drew doesn’t really make sense.

I love this show though!

I think Zeke and Camille will give/sell/rent the house to Crosby and Jasmine.

I agree that Drew’s behavior is much more “off” than Joel’s.

I don’t think that the Joel/Julia marriage was ever all that perfect – but I do agree that the show’s scriptwriters have done a poor job with depicting the reasons for Joel’s leaving. In terms of the marriage --it seems to me that Julia had a tendency to steamroll right over Joel over all sorts of family decisions, not really listening to or considering Joel’s point of view. Even in the last episode, it happened again with the cell phone he bought for Victor. She wasn’t interested in hearing the why of it – instead she just berated Joel for his audacity in buying the cell phone without talking to her. But there’s nothing that Joel says that gives any indication of that being what is bothering him – instead he just looks hurt and angry all the time. At least Drew is given the opportunity to say what’s dragging him down, however implausible it might seem.

I liked this episode a lot and my love for Ray Romano’s Hank continues. The subtlety of his acting is exquisite.

Not really a fan of what they’re doing with Drew, though. I hope he snaps out of it soon.

The scene in the car was well done but I did have to wonder where was the baby? And, yes, why is there never even a passing comment about Haddie?

And another week where I’ll ask, does no one in this show ever go to work?

Sydney may be a brat, but what a great little actor Savannah is. Speaking of which, and as mentioned by someone earlier, I usually DVR the show and skip the intro. This week I watched the intro, because I like the music, and it was fun to see the pictures of how much the kids have changed through the years. Not their baby pics, but the obvious earlier scenes from the show.

I, too, hate that they’re bringing Mark back. What’s the point?

At the fire pit, Camille reminises (sp?) about a beautiful old oak that she loved that got some tree disease. Zeek confesses he wanted to build a barn and the tree was in the way, so he wanted to cut it down. Knowing that Camille really loved the tree and would object, he told her it has some tree disease and they had to cut it down because it was dying. He then says if they let the bidder buy it, he’ll probably knock down the barn and plant a tree.

I also wondered what the heck Adam and Kristina did with Nora when they drove off to get Max.

Am I the only person who wants Sarah and her ex husband to eventually wind back up together?

I want Sarah to become disoriented and wander ceaselessly in the woods. I would love to see John Corbett return though.

cartera, you made me laugh! Sarah needn’t disappear to make me happy, just find an age-appropriate, emotionally available man. Like, now. I do love John Corbett, but Seth doesn’t fill that bill.

But she’s not age appropriate or emotionally available. She’s still Lorelai Gilmore.

In real life Sarah (Lauren Graham) is 47 years old. As cute as she might be, she’s starting to show her age. Her character needs to get a grip, grow up and start acting like the mother of two young adults. The flightiness wears thin.

I would love for Sarah to disappear - can’t see her change really!

If I were Camille, I would have a really rough time forgiving my DH for cutting down a huge old tree that I loved and being such a jerk that he lied about it. I keep thinking about that and feeling any affection for Zeke evaporating.
