Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

I totally agree with you, somemom. I thought it was nearly unforgivable, and I thought less of Camille for taking it so in stride… The thing is, he’s really a colossal jerk, albeit a colossal jerk who does legitimately love her and love his children and grandchildren. She’s known that forever, and apparently accepted it. So it turns out he was maybe a bigger jerk than she previously thought – what difference does it really make?

OK, I kind of see it another way. I think that Zeke WAS a jerk who took Camille for granted and did hide a lot of things from her, but now is treating her more like an equal, by telling her about the tree and letting her make the decision about whether or not to take the offer.

I guess it is the Pacific Northwest in me, but man, he killed a big tree and lied about it? That kind of thing does not go over well in Berkeley, either, that’s for sure.

The tree bothered me as well. I remember being devastated when I drove by our old house and saw that the new owners had cut down some trees that I loved. If my husband lied to me to get rid of a tree so he could have something he wanted and then casually mentioned it years later, I would feel completely betrayed.

I sort of liked last nights episode but it feels like the writing is a bit uneven and the way some things are are not credible. For instance when Drew and Amber were watching their little cousins they went from bratty to smiling in 30 seconds and all of the sudden best buddies. The surfing scene - the Dad happened to have a wetsuit that fit Max in the back of his car? However, I did like the breakfast scene with Zeke and Crosby and the dinner scene with Sarah and old boyfriend. Sooo glad he’s not back in the picture.

Regarding cutting down the old tree, I agree with tx5athome, Zeke was a jerk. Camille knew it and Zeke’s coming clean now is another example of how he’s finally matured.

I’m happy about the way the Mark story line was resolved. It sounded like the young woman Mark is engaged to is a far more suitable match. I feel as if the coming attractions last week were a cheap trick, though. I did NOT like this week’s coming attractions either–for obvious reasons!

I rewound and froze the scene where Julia is kissing a guy. Good job that both have beards. I think it is Joel. So unless he is being written out things are going to start moving between them.
Has anyone heard or read that he is leaving??

I saw it as being a third person…who is already part of the cast, but not Joel or Ed.

I thought it was a new guy, too.

Loved the scenes with Zeke and Crosby. Loved that Sarah thought Mark was going to confess his love for her, so glad he has moved on. Joel’s speech made me sad. I thought in the previews Julia was kissing Max’s teacher.

yes, it sure looks like Max’s kind teacher.

The show’s web site has a number of stills from next week’s episode. It’s 100% clear that the guy Julia is snogging in the preview is Max’s once and future (at least until this) teacher.

What is it about those Braverman siblings hitting on Max’s teachers? Not cool!

Yep, I thought it was the teacher too!

Hey, it’s not just Max’s teacher. Have we forgotten that Mark was Amber and Drew’s teacher?

It isn’t Mark, it is Max’s new English teacher Mr. Knight (?)

Back to the tree, I think the mighty oak became the bannister. Somemom, I wish I lived someplace where people cared about trees. Farmers here are cutting trees down left and right to make room for using bigger and bigger machinery. It makes me so sad. Sorry, didn’t mean to get off topic, but it really upsets me.

tx5, I think jonri was just pointing out that teachers are fair game on this show! First Minka Kelly (Max’s aide), the Sarah on Mark (Amber’s and Drew’s teacher) and now, apparently, Mr. Knight. I also thought it was the teacher, and that would make sense for that scene between Julia and Kristine, like maybe she was asking whether it was OK for her to pursue him, especially given the past with Max’s teachers.

Ah, YDS, you are so smart!! I get it now.

When we saw the previews we wondered how in the world Julia would meet Max’s teacher. How is this going to develop?

^^Exactly. Yet another really ridiculous storyline.
