Hoooooooly crap!

Coming attractions! Oy!

I thought Crosby would die and then Adam would be racked with guilt. Aaaarrrrggghhh.

Lord, help me. I just love Ryan. I know it’s a FNL hold over, but I want him to cone out on top.

You know–what’s her name --Camella? Zeek’s wife–what was with her eye makeup? She looked like she was going to stroke out. Her normal looking eyes were popped. So disconcerting.
Drew was great but for his age just not believable.
Poor Joel. But have I missed why he has turned back to her? What was his issue and how did he resolve it?

Yes, when Crosby rode off on the motorcycle, I expected a plot twist like in the old thirty something----remember that show? The mom with the cancer and the Peter Pan character?

I didn’t notice her eye makeup because I was so distracted by the rat’s nest on her head, especially early on in the show

We don’t really know why Joel had such a change of character. At least I am not satisfied with the show’s explanation. Though I will say that once Julia showed up at his office and yelled at him in front of his boss, I don’t blame him, but he already was acting abnormally before then, and that’s what I never understood.

Drew is an old soul, and he’s seen a lot with his dad. I was surprised by his forcefulness, but for a 19yo to get that this is a bad move for his sister didn’t seem unreasonable. I have a 19yo who would totally understand the dynamic, but I’m not sure he’d be so forthright with his sibling.

Whether it is unrealistic or not, I loved Drew. You could see Amber getting sucked back in. Thank goodness he was there to bring her back to reality. I hope Ryan gets his act together, but Amber can not afford to be involved with him until he does.

I feel like for Julia and Joel, Joel had a huge mid-life crisis. Then when Julia lost her job, she was lost, she lost her mojo, and she was no longer the woman that Joel was in love with. Now that she is working again and seems to have her mojo back, she is once again attractive to him. As much as I love him, he blew it. Yes she acted stupid, but I feel like he kind of drove her to it.

I am so glad that Crosby didn’t get hurt on his motorcycle.

Even though I love Ray Romano, I find the ex-wife story unrealistic. You would think she would give him a little more of a heads-up on the daughter’s behaviors before dropping her off with him.

Hoping old Zeek pulls through.

Liz- I haven’t thought about thirty something for years. I remember just what you’re talking about. I have a kid who would speak the truth like Drew to a sibling. I also still have the FNL crush and wish Ryan would make a complete turnaround.

I loved Drew’s story last night. I found it interesting that Adam and Amber are usually level headed and in charge, but last night it was Drew and Crosby stepping forward.

I was sure that was the Thirtysomething moment too…glad it wasn’t. As a Cal grad, I have to complain about the ridiculousness of a “Go Cal” shirt. There would never be such a thing. It’s either “Go Bears” or “Cal”. The green screens were out in full force this episode (esp. the scene where Amber and Zeek are sitting on the porch with SF in the background)…and there is no hospital room in SF that would look out over a green field like they showed. I guess it’s a good thing there are few enough shows that are set where I actually know something about the area, or I would spend all my time complaining about this type of thing. But I still love this show, and am also happy to see that “About A Boy” is coming back this week.

I don’t see how Ray Ramano’s character’s ex-wife (can’t think of either of their names at the moment) was in a position to be so witchy. She was the one who left town with the daughter and, under her watch, the daughter spiraled out of control. Not blaming her but I would have expected her to be just a little…humble, asking ex-husband to partner with her to help daughter; not making demands about what he can and can’t do. After all, why is she in a position to say Sarah can’t see the daughter? And, with Sarah working with dad, does that mean daughter will never come to the shop?

Like others, loved Drew tonight and was glad Amber came to her senses with Ryan.

I’d like to see Julia and Joel get back together. Sure, Joel screwed up but it’d be nice to see the family together again now that he’s back to his old ways (nice, sensitive, thoughtful).

I think that Julia and Joel will get back together. Julia is going to remembe what it was that she did not like in the first place about this guy she is dating, just as she forgot about his meeting her Dad. It will come back to her in one of his actions and she will move away and Joel will move in. MAYBY??

@goldenwest the “go cal” bothered me as well. I have to wonder if it was avoid some sort of copyright thing.

@oregon101 I like your Julia/Joel theory!

Lots going on in this epeisode, but not much in the heartwarming category.

I agree that Joel seems to like Julia best when she is working and independent.

“Yes, when Crosby rode off on the motorcycle, I expected a plot twist like in the old thirty something----remember that show?”

I thought that, too.

The most unrealistic part for me was the trip to Wyoming. It takes around 18 hours from SF to drive there.

Yep… they mentioned the 18 hours. But I didn’t see any luggage…

Yeah, I was thinking you don’t go from SF to WY without luggage. @@

I hope they end the show on a happy note with everyone going forward into the future happily. It’s so obvious that Amber giving birth and Zeek dying in the same timeframe is just what everyone is expecting. Why did they make SUCH a BIG DEAL about the man having heart surgery. Holy cow. Way to scare the crap out of people. Sure, it’s major and all but they really over dramatized it, IMO.

^^i disagree VaBluebird. This is one of scene in parenthood when I think it was realistic for all of them to be together. My mom and my MIL both had valve replacements and it’s not a walk in the park.
