New theory: Part of next week will be “five years later” so we’ll know how the stories end – will The Lunceonette reopen, Zeek has died, Ryan is or isn’t part of the baby’s life, etc.
As soon as I saw the school scene, I thought of posters on this thread and how all of us would think it was totally unrealistic. I thought the first ride to the hospital was funny. Hank trying to calm them down, “You’re on the ocean…” Amber, “The ocean! Just drive! Get me to the hospital!!” I’m voting for no death and the last episode focusing on the wedding but I would like to hear about a next step for Crosby. How about if he and Amber team up and run the Luncheonette? Remembering that in TV land, money isn’t always important.
^^ That theory has been pretty much confirmed online, including in an interview with Erika Christensen. Supposedly it’s a three year flashforward.
I liked the episode. The scene with Zeek and baby Zeek was very good. Sarah was horrible in the scene with Hank, but great with her dad and with Amber. I like Hank very much, but really don’t think there is any chemistry between him and Sarah. So maybe we will see the wedding and then the three year flashforward. Hoping that they make the luncheonette into a combo dance/recording studio and that somehow Adam finds whatever it is that he is passionate about (maybe teaching kids with special needs?). I didn’t mind the Academy scenes as much as usual. But really found Christina to be a bitch this episode.
Really, tx? I was glad Cristina gave the what-for to Jasmine! Cristina is tired of Adam always doing the right thing (unless it involves her!) and just saw this as another example of him putting Crosby ahead of himself. I’m not sure I would have had the guts to call Jasmine on the carpet for yanking at Adam’s heartstrings, but I’m glad she did. And I was comforted by the shot with Max. She overthinks so much where he is concerned that I knew she couldn’t just not say anything!!!
I found the scene with Max disturbing. What Max needed to hear is that he WILL be an adult and he WILL have a job and he WILL have a life of his own WITH their support but he is the one who will run his life.
Instead the “we will always…” took center stage when it should have been reassurance but Christina once again tied him to Adam and her apron strings. Every young person is anxious about life and what they want is to be told they will learn and be strong and independent and still have a loving family…disabilities or not.
True, but she can’t help herself. That’s what I found “comforting” – that was true to her character.
I agree with your comment oregon. I thought surely they know the best way to reach Max would be to refute his facts with different statistics.
I was hoping that they would do a ‘fast forward’ thing to end it. I loved the way Six Feet Under did it and doubt that any show could do as good a job but it’s a nice way to end a series where there are lots of storylines to tie up. When I saw that the show was going to focus on Sarah and Hank’s wedding, I think it was pretty clear that there would be no death to deal with in the episode. I’m happy about that.
The school scene was silly, especially the dance scene where the dancers were clearly not students at the school.
The first scene at the hospital where they ended up screaming at each other was so very annoying, and an example of what I have always found irritating about this show. These people are adults, parents with children and this is how they behave in public, and in a hospital waiting room, no less?! Who does that.
Yes!
Really liked the "Circle Game " duet with Amber and Sarah. One of my favorite songs. It was even part of my college graduation.
I read on some site that there will be a flash forward of three years in the finale next week.
No spoilers on this thread, please.
Finally had a chance to watch the latest show this morning.
Couldn’t stop crying when Zeek met Baby Zeek. So sweet.
I forgot to mention, in one of those crazy coincidences, I had my music playing on my laptop just before I watched this week’s episode and The Circle Game was the last song before I turned it off. Love Joni Mitchell.
I just finished watching epi a bit ago. The flash forward must be at the very end since they have to take care of the wedding and all the drama I imagine will surround that. I’m kind of disappointed that the W will be a big part of the finale. Not very imaginative, imo.
Wasn’t feeling the school bit at all.
I’ve a feeling Julia & Joel won’t make it - even though they had the cuddling in bed scene at the end.
Well, watched it yesterday. Even though the idea of Zeke dying is so incredibly sad and I hate it…a flash forward will be cool and tug on the heartstrings…which I think is a fitting end to the series. I would rather have seen Zeke and Millie go live in Europe part of the time. It would have been bittersweet also, to see the family break up a little like that but at least Zeke would be alive.
The school thing was ridiculous. I could buy into the career week, but when I saw the students all dancing like professionals I though Give Me a Break. Why are they wasting our precious last hours showing the kid holding up the soufflé…I don’t care about him or Dylan.
The talking over each other was really bad this episode…won’t miss that. The scene with Zeke and Amber teared me up. I don’t know what I’m going to watch now that won’t pale to this show.
Agree about the cross-talk. Frustrating. Interestingly, I know two people who said the soufflé thing made them cry. I wasn’t moved in that way, but it worked for some people.
Maybe Millie will go to France after he dies.Julia will be able to visit when Joel has the kids after the divorce.
Actually, I have a pretty good idea what is about to happen with Joel and Julia but lips are sealed and if I am right it is not a divorce.
I think that when they do a flash forward julia might be pregnant or have a new baby with Joel.
Didn’t they start looking into adoption because of severe fertility issues?
