Anyone watch Parenthood, the tv show?

Given that Parenthood is a show exploring family life issues with love and hope, here is my prediction.
Zeke dies, perhaps doesn’t chose surgery- that is the mystery.
The family grieves, we grieve, will need tissues for that memorial service.
Amber’s birth brings joy, and apparently Ryan back.

We see the family mourning together, but joyful with the new baby. The cycle of life.

Well, I’m all caught up with the rest of the viewers after having binge watched for 2 to 3 months. I’m so sad there are only 2episides lefts and from reading this thread it seems that there is knowledge of an expected death? I don’t know why they would do that…not that everything had to be tied up in a bow, but that just seems like such a downer ending for everyone. I have a question that I think about every time I see this. Now did Crosbys and Jasmines baby turn from white to black between seasons 4 and 5 ? I really like Hank and glad he will be part of the family, but there really was no chemistry between him and Sarah. Kudo to Ray Romano for making me believe he was really Hank after Ray Barone. When he first appeared on the show, it seemed strange to see him and all I kept thinking of was it wouldn’t work.

^^ True, they don’t need to have a death, although the most logical would be Zeke. If this is following a family thru the ups and downs of life, then losing the matriarch or patriarch is inevitable at some point.

As far as baby Aida, often African American and especially mixed race babies are usually born lighter in color and their skin darkens as they get older.

I agree about Ray Romano. He totally inhabits Hank. I wish he’d been nominated for an Emmy!

Oh one more things that bothers me. Know Haddie is off to college, but does the actress have some kind of clause in her contract that they can’t even mention her character’s name? The whole time Zeke was in the hospital why didn’t Adam or Kristina ever say, “should we call Haddie” or “let’s not call Haddie yet, she has a big paper due” or something??

Haddie falling off the face of the Earth is what really ticked off my kid. He was a senior in HS that season she went to college, and he said if I get cancer do not even think about trying to hide it from him.

I understand that babies skin and eye color could change, but Aida went from pale with blondish straight hair…lookin like Crosby to an obvious African American baby with dark brown curly hair. It’s no big deal, but I would have liked to know the reason why this was done. Every time i think about it I chuckle.

Haddie fell off the earth and then briefly came back at the end of last season and the beginning of this year, and then disappeared again. You would think they would mention her. Isn’t she studying abroad this semester? Also that would logically be something they would bring up when talking about staying with the luncheonette. I use that excuse for everything “I have college tuition to pay!!”.

Stuck at a meeting. I’m leaving in 15 minutes if this guy doesn’t wrap it up!

Is it Haddie or Hattie? Not that it matters since they have “My Three Sons” 'zer". If you are old enough to remember .

It’s Haddie.

Thanks. Have been trying to figure out what names would be shortened to Haddie. Evidently none.

I left the mtg!

Whoa! Hospital throwdown!!

So. Many. Tears. I was hoping the last episode would be two hours. I don’t see how they have time to kill someone off now! lol

I thought the episode was wonderful but it did get a little over-the-top during the Ave Maria montage of Chambers Academy, which suddenly seemed more like a school for performing arts, culminating with the triumphant soufflé. I’m pretty sentimental, but I could have lived without that.

argg… I hated the arguing and talking over each other in the first few scenes. It would NOT take a lot for the 4 of them to figure out that this family dinner was not for their entertainment. I loved the singing but overall disliked the magical academy success. Just too silly. How about something more grounded like a newsperson from the local station drops in and sees the soufle and dancing?

I loved the birthing scene. Loved Ambers laugh once her baby was born. Enjoyed the lyrics of the song but had to rewind to focus on the words as Ambers experience first time round took front stage. The scene when Zeek meets Zeek was lovely.

Glad the kid asked the important questions to Julia and Joel as I hated the fact that they were glossing over everything. Saying “I will never leave you” is ridiculous if that is all there is…

I teared up when Amber laughed. Hank is really changing and that is fun to watch.

I wanted to smack Sarah and Hank (or more accurately, the writers) when they were taking Amber to the hospital for the false alarm. It reminded me of the episode on I Love Lucy where Ricky, Fred, & Ethel go crazy when Lucy says it’s time to go to the hospital. However, I forgave Sarah and had a little cry when she had the talk with her dad about getting married.

I agree with the other about the over the top scene at Chambers Academy. Not only did it look like a performing arts school, but Kristina and Jasmine are all smiles and when we last saw them they were ready to duke it out.

The best was the sweet scene with Amber, Sarah, Zeek, Camille, & baby. That required me to go to the back-up tissue.

One more thing - we know there is supposed to be a death next week based on all the promotional discussion last fall. However, based on the previews showing happy scenes, I’m wondering if the death will be revealed in a voiceover at the end and not shown. If you watched the very awesome series, The Wonder Years, you may remember the final episode where Kevin’s voiceover tells what happened to the family. Just that scene of the family at the parade with Kevin telling how his dad died a few years later can bring me to tears now.

The thing with The Wonder Years, though, is that it’s told in retrospect. A grown-up Kevin tells his childhood story. Who would do a voice-over about someone dying? Presumably everyone will die at some point so that’s hardly a shocker.

I was glad to see the school featured because it means that we won’t have to see it next week. And it’s career week, but a TV show so dancing is a more visual career than accounting. I was OK with that.

I was just surprised that this didn’t go as planned. I was sure Zeek would die this week and all next week would be the aftermath. Now, I don’t know.

I don’t think anyone is going to die. They had to confront “death” and I kind of think they did deal with that topic.

Didn’t much care of the school scene. With so much going on and so little time to wrap things up, I thought they could have skipped that. And how is it that they were all so mad at each other just before in the hospital and everything is just hunky-dory at the school?
