On my D’s portal under “AppSaidYes” and View Your Next Steps, we have something listed as “Congratulations on your Scholarship Offer to Appalachian” There is a link to click to see the amount. I know every little bit helps, but if it makes you feel any better, the Excellence Scholarship is only a one-time $2,000 award. Not game-changing. Best of luck!

For those curious, it looks like first year scholarship consideration is over. I received an email stating, “This first round of scholarship selection is complete and while you have not been selected to interview for a First-year scholarship at this time, you will receive first consideration as an alternate for any institutional awards that may become available”. Got the same email and this confirms my suspicion - we all got the same email so that alternate list is probably quite long, unfortunately. Kind of like being waitlisted, odds are pretty slim, but never 0.

For sure! But definitely brings App state further down the list because as an OOS it would require a large amount of financial aid/scholarships to make it work.

Unless things have changed Wautauga and Honors do not have interviews for acceptance (my son is a senior and was/is in both). DD has been accepted and applied for HC but no word yet - think it’s usually been around mid February for both HC and Wautauga so fingers crossed for everyone!

I just happened to check my daughter’s portal and her Watauga acceptance is there! No Honors decision yet.
Thanks for the tip! My son was accepted as well. I wonder is this will sway him to App.
If it weren’t for this thread we’d have no idea that there would be no merit scholarship coming as my daughter didn’t receive that email about finalists already being chosen. We wouldn’t pay full price (OOS) so it makes it easier to eliminate from her list now. No word on Honors either. Very little communication from the school in general compared to others.

Just an FYI, my son interviewed for a scholarship and was informed that Honors College decisions will come out in mid to late February.
