Applying to the College Class of 2017 (Starting College in the Fall of 2013)

From Toba Tek Singh to Princeton, New Jersey. Hammad Aslam, headboy of the batch of 2013 has been admitted into Princeton class of 2017.

Parents not agreeing to going to USA they say I can go if I spend atleast one year in UK. Thoughts? I dont think one can transfer after, rents disagree

@ahtesham, it IS very rare to see internationals get in Early, though Yale has a tradition of selecting most of its international consignment via EA. Princeton, Harvard and Stanford are much more intense.

@perazziman, there are 3 freshman (including myself), no sophomores, 2 juniors and 3 seniors, plus a few grad students. the graduating class of 2012 had 7 pakistanis! and we already have one for 2017, Hammad, who I think is a brilliant addition.

@alibhai Yeah you are right. Yale is quite more generous than HPS

Got deferred by Bates!
Had applied ED 1 :(

@Maaz997 Oh! i am so sorry. Btw you are still lucky you are deffered. I got rejected from NYUAD. Can i please see your bates supplemental essay if you dont mind?

NYUAD 's acceptance is only 2.1 % !
So dont lose heart if you got rejected!
I need help with my supplements too!
Will send in the essay
PM me your email

Maaz You’ll eventually get in don’t worry. Hun Chad De Bachian Da Picha Admission Aap Ho Jaway Ga!!

^ Excuse me!
Who’s this?

@alibahi, I am assuming that does not include the Pakistani-American kids at Princeton. Are there any Pakistani-American women at Princeton or just guys?

On a separate note, son’s standardized testing is complete. We found out today that he scored 750 on the Dec 1 SAT Biology Test. He scored a 750 in Math II in June. So, combined with the 700s on all 3 sections of the Nov SAT, I believe he is done with the SATs.

So starting what we’re supposed to do:

Yale-1(KGS)
Princeton-1(Atchison)
Williams-1(leo118)
Texas A&M College Station-1(Perazziman’s S)

Please add, I haven’t added any unconfirmed ones. Maybe someone from Roots DHA or LGS Lahore could add, I’m sure they must have lots of people getting in EA/ED

Yale-1(KGS)
Princeton-1(Atchison)
Williams-1(leo118)
Texas A&M College Station-1(Perazziman’s S)

NYUAD-2(Roots DHA1)
NYUNC-1(Roots DHA1)

^What is that list for?

just for indication who is accepted in US and from which school

Hey guys! I am a Pakistani student currently residing in Middle East and here’s my academic profile. I got 4A* (Accounting, Business Studies, Economics and ESL) 1A (Maths) and 3B’s (Urdu as second lang, ICT and Islamiyat) in my Olevels. Got 3A’s (Accounting, Business Studies and Economics) and 1B (AICT) in my AS level. I will give my A2 exam this May/June 2013 InshaAllah and am hoping for 3A’s atleast.
I gave SAT1 at November and got a miserly score of 1740. I’ll be giving SAT1 again this January 26. My EC’s are almost non existent, with few school certificates for debates and certificates for being a member of my school’s cricket and basketball team.
Is there any hope for me to get into a good Canadian or American university in an annual budget of $15000 which includes tuition fees, living costs etc. I probably would need substantial amount of aid for that. I’m not talking about an Ivy league uni, since I know I won’t be able to make it, but a good university which ranks among the top 200 in the world.
I am hoping for a score around 2100 atleast when I give SAT again at January 26. Any help would be much appreciated :)

@Baller17 Yes! you do have chance at many. Try out York University of Canada. It also has a full scholarship specially for International and dont even need your SAT. also try Trent(offers full scholarship) for USA. go for colleges like Knox, Hobart and william, denison and dickinson and couple of more. Good luck man

Thanks for your reply ahtesham. I checked out various Canadian universities, such as Waterloo, York etc but they all require A-level Maths as a pre-requisite for an Accounting program. :/

@Baller17 Oh! thats a problem. sorry i dont know how to tackle it. :’(
