I believe the experssion, crossing one’s fingers predates Christianity in Europe and is now a secular expression. I have often seen Jewish people use the expression too. I do not think they have been duped. “JS” would know that. lol.

what?? IDOC has to be sent by air mail? I’m doomed -___- everyone else sent it?

^ Nope, i didn’t send it either, i found out about it too late as well. And College board didn’t send me any email regarding it either although i’ve applied to a few colleges like Harvard and Amherst where its apparently required. Lets hope for the best now i guess.

I didn’t have to use IDOC at all even though I had to do PROFILE, none of my colleges required it.

IDOC should be sent by air mail, but I do know someone who happened to be able to send it via DHL. I don’t know how but it reached.

@cricketfreak
I have 5A*s, 4As and a B in my O-Levels. 3As and a B in As.
My ECs are not very impressive; ive only taken part in a handfull of inter-school competitions.
I got a sat score of 2000 (630 CR, 710 math and 660)

@oldfashioned I will send my IDOC first thing tomorrow morning. I hope its not too late. But there is a thing that’s bugging me. There a plenty of universities that require IDOC, if I’m right. It was on Columbia, and Dartmouth’s website and I’m applying to both. But when I open my IDOC, it mentions only Harvard and Duke as the universities interested in receiving my documents via IDOC. Why is that? shouldn’t it mention Columbia and Dartmouth as well?

@duresham3 Hey i applied to Duke but i didn’t actually received information regarding this IDOC thing. Also Duke sent me a email early this january that your financial aid and admission documents had been received and your application will be reviewed soon. I am a bit worried now about this IDOC. Hope someone will clarify this situation soon. Anyone please?

Well, this IDOC thing is a bit dodgy from all the searching i’ve done on it. There are many posts on CC from students who say that they submitted their applications as early as November and December and STILL haven’t received any email regarding IDOC. On the other hand some are saying that they received such an email soon after submitting their CSS profile. So i really don’t know what to make out of this.

I contacted Harvard admissions office, told them i’d submitted my CSS profile and asked them if any other documents were required or not. Honestly speaking, this was just a way of seeing if they’d mention anything regarding the IDOC AT ALL But they didn’t. They just said that their in the midst of sorting out all the humongous paperwork they’ve received and if any required document is missing, they’d email or call me abt it so i can THEN submit it. They actually sounded like it wont be any big deal if any required document turned out missing, and told me not to worry, lol

@oldfashioned exactly! My duke finaid documents are complete on their portal but I also received a email from Collegeboard regarding this IDOC. don’t really know what the heck is going on… I am not submitting IDOC at all whether a uni wants it or not. They haven’t added to their admission document checklist so I am not wasting my time for sure :D

^ i’m with u on this, not sending any more documents now. Frankly speaking, i’m quite sick of the admission process now,lol. After finally having gotten rid of the never ending paperwork, supplements and documents, i just don’t want to get myself into it again 8)

…and on my 100th post^ i finally admitted that i’ve gotten ‘bezaar’ of the application process Been wanting to say that for a long time

@oldfashioned- In how many colleges you have applied?

@oldfashioned “Yeh Cheez” sick of this Common Application and SAT. I will even be glad now if i ended up in COMSAT coz at least i can say to myself that “I tried my best” :D

@ahtesham
HKU ki tayyari karo! ;D

Oldfashioned and ahtesham, you guys literally stole my words! I still haven’t started preperation for my A Levels, and I’m worried sick! This college application process doesn’t really seem to let go easily
Anyways, I sent my IDOC today. Sent it by early mail or something. They say it’ll get there in a week and normal delivery would have taken 2 weeks. So, I just hope it gets there on time! Though I find the involvement of the collegeboard in this process totally irrelevant. They’re just making money out of this whole CSS Profile thing. I think universities should start their own Financial Aid website thingees (I don’t really know what exactly you would call them :P) like Princeton. Or maybe even UChicago. Anyone apying there? They just asked me to fill out the ISFAA (International Student Financial Aid Application) and upload it on their website. Now that is just soooo waaaaay better than the hassle of paying for the CSS Profile and then sending IDOC and stuff. Some universities even asked me to fax my parent’s tax returns. What’s the bad in e-mailing people? We are in the 21st century afterall! :P

So many posts to replyy to…okay, so starting with SAT456’s question, i initially stuck to my plan and applied to hardly a handful of colleges - 5 of them. On 31st December. And then i thought i was done. But as soon as February started, i starting getting the admission anxiety attacks that keep you awake at night and make you think:
“patanahi-kahin-admission-hoga-ya-nahi” and “my-future-depends-on-it”.

So, i applied to a bunch of other uni’s. Some of the uni’s i applied to at this stage had their deadlines long gone, like Grinnell. Its deadline was 15th Jan and i applied in Feb! AND they accepted my application! I know, crazy So anyways, the total number of uni’s i applied to now stands at about 10 or 11.

@ahtesham, the ONLY good thing about this admission process is that in the end i’ll be able to think that atleast i tried. I worked hard, prayed alot, gave it my best shot so if HE (Allah in my case) doesn’t give me what I want this time, then i’ll surely wait for the next time.
:)

@duresham3, for me to say that "i know what u mean by the lack of A level preparation thing’’ would be the biggest understatement because i REALLY do know what you mean ;D

And the ISFAA is truly a hundred times less twisted than the CSS profile. Enough said.
