Applying to the College Class of 2017 (Starting College in the Fall of 2013)

alibhai you’re in dartmouth?

No, I’m heading to Princeton this fall.

Ohh thats great. Forgive me, but I don’t speak admissions and I’ll thank you for a little help. If I want to start at a uni next fall then when do i start preparing all the admission forms and applications?

G33Kster, you can’t attend any american university in the upcoming fall because all the deadlines for their applications have passed, you can apply in Sept-Jan time period for Fall 2013.

Alright I get what yure saying but the problem is that right now I’ve just started my second year of Fsc which will end in June. Reults coming out in next August. What do i do then? I’m planning my SAT’s for november this year btw

The list of acceptances at the beginning includes some Boston University acceptances with aid. But on BU’s website, they say they don’t give aid to internationals. Would anyone like clearing it up for me?

@11041994 Some Pakistanis are US citizens/permanent residents as well…

Well, if you are like alibhai (CONGRATS BTW :D) and on the Princeton caliber, I don’t think any US college would be very tough to get into with aid/scholarships LOL

G33Kster, yes you apply with first year grades.

@bluelove, thanks! though I was wait listed and even rejected by some colleges which are known to be stingy with aid. Dartmouth, rest assured, isn’t one of them.

Hi guys, iam new on CC… Iam an A levels student…Iam looking forward to apply in US for fall 2013 term…Iam taking SAT this november…I need guidance about applying to US universities…I havent yet started working on college essays…How should i begin? Is TOEFL necessary to give? I want to get into university of connecticut…Is there anyone who is studying there? Do they give aid to international students? I need to get a healthy aid package…Please suggest me some good universities that provide aid…I want to pursue electrical or mechanical engineering.

Hey fellow Pakistanis,

I got a horrible AS-result. And thus can’t apply to US now (need a lot of FA). I had registered for the Oct SA but, now as I am thinking of reappearing in the two subjects I got bad grades in, can’t give it in Oct now.
Is it possible for me to reappear in my subjects in this Oct-Nov session, give SAT-I in December, and SAT-II in January. And apply after my A2-exam, in the October 2013?

Where is everyone? :(

Alibhai and others plzz reply…

Snowbrood, U of Connecticut is a public university and is unlikely to give aid to a foreign student or even an out of state student. If you are applying for the fall of 2013 you should, in my opinion, at least take 2 SAT subject tests and the SAT Reasoning test, in addition to TOEFL by Jan of 2013, to not miss the application deadlines to get into one of the well endowed private universities that offer aid to international students.

Alibhai, Have you physically made it to Princeton yet or are you still in Pakistan?

I believe alibhai is in Princeton already.
Greeting from the Indian thread.
2 of the Princeton admits have already gone to States a few days back. So, I guess their move in day and Int’ orientation must be this week.

Thanks rew. I saw the pic of U of Richmond posted on CC by bluelovexD. So, it looks like bluelove made it to the US, too.

Hello perazziman, yes I have  Well into my classes and everything.
But the picture I posted was taken in April, when U of R fully sponsored for my campus visit. (and like, fully sponsored down to the visa fee!)

That is excellent. It looks like you made the right choice, going with this school. So, have a good semester. By the way, have you met your conselor and already selected your classes? Also don’t forget to stop in, from time to time, and answer questions and offer advice/ opinons to kids on this board.

I hope I will.
The workload is quite overwhelming though, since I picked really tough classes.
I talked to my advisor and chose classes way back in July.

Haha sure, I am here :)
