@duresham3 - Thanks!

Thank-you so much @duresham3 and @flyboy95! :D

I have Biology, Sociology, English Literature and Business Studies. Honestly my transcripts for A’levels were terrible, primarily because of an accident that put me out of school for about three months. I’ve been involved in parliamentary debates, MUNs, drama and theater, student government, political/social activism, journalism, school choir, dance and was school editor. Other than this I did a lot of career-oriented work and community service.
My advice to you would be to try a lot of things and then really focus on the ones you love. Colleges look for consistency and commitment, and while its good to show them how multi-talented you are, they actually want to know what you’re passionate about.

Hope that helps. :)

Thank you, Aiman. That does help. :)

Hello everyone!
I am in a difficult situation right now!
I had almost made up my mind to enroll at Wash U’s Olin business School!
But today I met my counsellor and he asked me to consider Colgate over Wash U!
He cited the following reasons:
- Smaller class size.
- Location near the East Coast ie better access to jobs in NYC etc.
- Bigger brand name! (Really? )
- Liberal arts education.

This has really confused me. I initially thought that selecting Wash U was a no-brainer! But the conviction of my counsellor has made me have second thoughts.
I really need your comments to help clear my mind.
P.S I intend to pursue Investment Banking, Finance or Entrepreneurship as a career. I do have an interest in Pol Sci and International Relations as well and would love to pursue one of these as a second major.
Aid is also a factor. The aid package at Wash U is quite good. (54k)
Please help everyone!

Go for WashU!
Colgate is pretty decent, but WashU is a better option in my opinion. Even though Colgate will give you a smaller community, WashU is the perfect size – you’ll meet new people every day but you’d be in contact with your friends as well. I read somewhere (on Quora probably) that the size is 7000 at WashU. I think this is the perfect number – not overly loaded like the UCs, not really limited like small liberal arts’ colleges.

For the subjects you indicated interest in, WashU is a better brand name. It’s good on the rankings, they’re giving you a super financial aid package, and Olin is pretty incredible.

As far as the states go, yes, East Coast is preferable, but Missouri is not so bad either. Also, East Coast is competitive, what with the 2 billion colleges in Massachusetts alone. I think it’d be easier/convenient finding jobs in or near Missouri. If you really wanna go to NYC, you can do stuff in the summers.

I’d suggest hitting up Pakistani alumni on Facebook, and asking for their perspectives, or trying to compare and contrast Colgate and WashU on Quora.

54k is an awesome amount. I’m sure you’d be paying something between 10-20k for Colgate, or have loans to pay back. Come on, why graduate on debt.

I have not heard of Colgate as a target school for IBs. WUSTL’s name usually comes up.
