@Princeton2017 Well, Hamilton have a pre-orientation program Adirondack Adventure (kind of summer school) which is purely fun like camping and hiking so i have to leave at 12th or 13th August :D

Hi guys. I have a question, if you all could give your opinions that would be great.

I got accepted to Carnegie Mellon Qatar for Computer Science. I’ve heard CMU is very good for CS and their Qatar Campus is very close if not the same for the standard of education, compared to the Pittsburgh campus. Ive received a 25% scholarship. And have applied for financial aid (interest free loan) from Qatar foundation. Do you think its acceptable to graduate with a 125-150k loan with a CS degree from CMU-Q? Ill either have to repay the loan in 3-5 years or work in qatar for 5-6 years to get the loan repayment exempted. Any other advice any one could give about CMU-Q, CS, or the jobs after.

@picerulz Congratulations for getting in I personally think you should go for it (If you don’t have any other option like good aid or better ranked uni offer). Working in Qatar will be best for you and you will also gain work experience along with re-paying your loan amount After 9 years from now, you will be free to work anywhere in this world with 5 years work experience and an amazingly ranked University with highly reputed Degree. Congratulations on getting into CMU Q? What is the exact amount of your scholarship?

I got into Georgetown Q on a 20,000 grant (~50% of tuition fee). My concern is the same as you: should I attend Georgetown and graduate in heavy debt?

The total cost of attendance of both CMU Q and Georgetown Q is about 55k to 60k, so assuming our parents pay around 5k per year and we work to make 5kper year, I would still require 25k-30k in aid, which is about 45%-50% in aid. I think I prorbably means that I’ll have to work there 3 years, right ? :/
