Applying to the College Class of 2017 (Starting College in the Fall of 2013)

@ahtesham
Thanks!! I guess the paid service option in qatar is my best bet. I guess finding good interesting jobs in qatar wouldn’t be very hard, with its economy expanding at such a fast rate but I am slightly hesitant on being bound to qatar for a long time.

@junaid

Congrats on your acceptance. I’ve got 25% tuition. USD 11,668 per year. You can read the financial aid agreement/contract on their website. Generally the lesser aid you take the lesser time you’ll have to spend in paid service

@Picerulz,

Could you please forward me the financial aid agreement/contract?

Do you plan to go to grad school?

Just paid my enrollment deposit for the Worcester Polytechnic Institute right now! Probably gonna request for the I-20 today as well by sending in some miscellaneous documents and sheets.
What about you guys?

@TheCricketFreak I had sent Common App Final Report last week and will get my I-20 in late May :D

@ahtesham - I know this sounds stupid but would we get our I-20s after we send in our final reports? I am yet to receive my final report.

guys is anyone attending the university of Illinois urbana or do you know anyone who currently attends it?

Hey guys! I was in this thread last year lol, the class of 2016 one. Anyhoo I’'m at HKU now, so if any of you are coming here or anyone you know is coming here, just PM me, I’ll be glad to help. Especially if there are any girls who are unsure abt coming to HK, please tell them to PM me cause I’m a Pakistani girl studying here and I know alot of them might not be that encouraged to come here. :)

Deadline for submitting Final reprts are mostly around June and we will get our I-20s in early june or end of may so i think that answers your question :smiley:
P.S Final report is not your A2 result (If you dont know). Its just a simple report about your moral character and criminal records required to be filled by your counselor ;)

And is anyone attending stony brook university? Or is there any alumini here?

@junaid 123

This is what I read abt it [Education City,University, qatar :: Education City](<a href=“Education City,University, qatar :: Education City”>Education City,University, qatar :: Education City)

And abt grad school. Not straight away I guess. will think abt it.

Anyone else here going to education city qatar, or studying there already?

Hi everybody I am new on this forum. I’m in a big problem and need your advice. I planned on taking a gap year first but have changed my mind now ( not the best timing!..i know). Does anybody know of good universities in US whose deadline hasn’t past yet. I pretty much need full scholarship. I have pretty decent grades and sat scores.

You’re right about one thing: this is definitely not the best time to change your mind. I know of only 50-60 places that will even give full financial aid (which you referred to as a scholarship) and all of them have January or max February deadlines. A friend in a situation similar to yours just applied to AUS, the American University of Sharjah.

You can still apply; they meet full-need and it’s pretty good from what she tells me. Not in the US, like you want, but then again your options are very very limited if not non-existent. Good luck!

@pakirootsian- Are you not attending Vanderbilt? I see Clark’ 17 in your profile.

I got an email yesterday from NUS saying I got accepted for Mechanical engineering. However, I wasn’t able to apply for their financial aid program. Does anyone know in detail about their scholarship policy and when they award it etc. Any other ways of financing at NUS?

@picerulz Congratulations! NUS is as good as any Ivy. When did you applied coz mine status is still processing? You should ask them to enroll you in any loan or any other program in which you have to pay less. (I think they have a loan program). Their scholarship for Engineering is competitive and last year only 1 got it from Pak. Mind telling me your grades?

@pakirootsian. Thanks for your help. Don’t some American universities offer admissions in spring?? Any such university in your mind that meets full need. Or any other similar option even if its not in the US because I really want to get into a university at the moment.

I’m afraid I don’t know of any colleges with spring deadlines that give international students aid. Don’t get me wrong: I’m saying I don’t know of any, not that there aren’t any :slight_smile: You should Google search or scour these forums. Look up AUS though!

SAT456, I think you have me confused with someone else. A boy and a girl from Roots Islamabad are going to Vanderbilt but I’m not the girl. I was accepted but I won’t be attending. I’ll be going to Clark. I was lucky enough to get a full tuition scholarship. Happy because it’s so close to Boston :smiley: Where is everyone else matriculating?

@ahtesham

But don’t people generally prefer good US colleges to NUS? I applied in February. 5 A*s in A levels.

What would you all suggest between these two options?? CS at Carnegie Mellon Qatar or Mechanical Engineering at NUS. I’ll have a slightly lesser loan amount at NUS I think.

picerulz,

Have you received your decision for NUS? I haven’t received anything.

I know I was shortlisted for the law interview but I couldn’t make it to it personally so I withdrew my application for Law (2nd choice).

Doesn’t NUS send decisions to intl students starting from May?

@picerulz You got it right! People prefer US more than any other country (Oxbridge is definitely an exception lol) even if i got in NUS with scholarship now i will prefer Hamilton over it for sure (No idea why :P) but i am sure i won’t be getting in coz your grades are far more stellar than mine’s. Back to the topic, i think you should choose NUS over CMU because NUS because their Mech Engineering program is very highly ranked. Also you have a chance of getting scholarship in second year of your degree at NUS if you did well but i am not sure whether CMU will give you any. NUS’s mech engineering is ranked 5th in entire world according to QS which means higher than Oxford, ICL or UC berkerly which is awesome. If i were you i would have definitely choose NUS :smiley: But i think you should also consult current students of CMU Qatar and NUS (Obviously my knowledge is restricted and i can be wrong)

@Junaid123 I was wondering the same thing man. No idea, i think picerulz has great stats which lead to early offer. I think we should wait and see until May or maybe June :wink: I have no hope for NUS’s scholarship
