@Shahan,

Nope. As I said, I am not going to GTown, so I withdrew my application.

@TheCricketFreak, be confident and honest. They might let you off in two minutes, or take some 15-30 minutes; don’t freak out, just casually answer questions.
Keep your documents organized and neat – the worst part is not finding something and thinking you left it at home. Just be yourself. All the best! Where’re you going for college though? Also, pick the English speaker.

^ TheCricketFreak is going to Worcester Polytechnic institute.

@De12345- Are you already in college? If yes then, in which college are you studying?

Not yet shahan.

I just had a little chat a while back with Mustafa Hasnain , Assistant Director of Admission at CMUQ and I asked him that Once we graduate,will QF bound us to work in Qatar only and he said : “you are not bound to stay and work in Qatar, you can choose to work outside of Qatar as long as you agree to pay 15% of your salary”.

Further, I asked him that is it really difficult to get a job in Public sector in Qatar and is Arabic a requirement for such jobs;he said : “It’s not that difficult, Qatar is a multilingual society, you can very easily get by without arabic. I’ve lived here most of my life (23 years out of 28) and don’t speak arabic”

Hope this would clear some of the confusions you or anybody, ambivalent about the decision to go to CMUQ, had earlier.

Got my F1 visa, Alhamdullilah!

Hey.
I just saw your post about getting the visa. I gave my interview and on friday it’ll be two weeks, can you just tell me how long it took to get your passport back after the interview because i am getting worried.

@hasanbasra He got his passport in 3 business days. Did you received a letter saying your visa needs administrative processing time? If so then you have to wait for some time and if not, then you should email Embassy and ask them about your case :D

He said, ‘everything’s fine with your application. you’‘l get a call when your visa’s ready’ Cam home, checked the status and it said i am in administrative processing. Do you have any idea how long would it take? Its been about two weeks and now and i am really worried.

did anyone hear from the financial aid office? And could anyone guide me that if the loan offered by QF is not the amount u expected it to and u still cannot attend what could be done about it?
And does that help or should i start looking into other options?

@hassanbasra Don’t worry, you will get your passport soon. Btw, where did you check your visa status?

^^this is the website.
Plus, are you sure? do you know people who were put in AP and got it resolved quickly? I hope i get it soon, i am worried sick!!!

@hasanbasra My friend last year got his passport clear in 10 days. It varies from person to person, apparently. All you can do is pray now because odds are, maybe, you get it after two months.
Just pray and hope for the best. Also you should contact embassy for a reason to put you on AP.

cleared*
contact embassy and ask for**
Sorry for horrible english. lolz :P

I hope so. I seriously am worried sick!
I just hope they send it before the semester starts. I am
Gonna be depressed now. Do you know other people who were put under AP and got their visas late or early.

@hasanbasra most cases are resolved in a month, so just chill. You may wanna see some experiences on happyschoolblog dot com. Its a good website.:rolleyes:

@qatarbound
Remember, the aid you’re going to get is going to cover only your tuition fee; all other expenses are to be covered by your ownself - these include food,travel and accomodation.
However,you may get the aid for accomodation - but that’s the maximum limit (as per a Cmu Admission officer)

I heard from QF on 3rd of June and I’ve got my decision,but I’m prolly not going for I thought I would be given aid for accomodation,food and travel too. I have sent them an appeal though,but I’m not much hopeful.

A tip : You should certainly start looking for other options too - just in case.

@shahan

Did they reply to your appeal?
They did not reply to mine! and i am running out of time as I have to at least submit the deposit at Cmu in the next 2 days.
Did the cmu admission officer say that appealing would help?

And as for the other options I dont want to…I hope this works out! :)

Ask the university for further extension and tell them that you’ve submitted an appeal and you’ve not heard from them regarding appeal so far.

No they have not replied to my appeal as yet.
I wish they do.

How much have they offered you as a loan ?

Hey shahan and qatarbound. You’ve both received answers from QF?
They still haven’t given me an answer. How much aid did you both get and how much did you ask for?

Thanks.
