No you don’t need the list ready until you request what you want in March. This is just a housing deposit.
Sorry if this is obvious, but how does a student access their email? Is there a link in the portal or something? She completed the DUO process, but doesn’t know where to go to open emails. Thanks!!
If you have TODAY for housing application time slot can you post back the process- how long it took, etc.? D26 has tomorrow at noon and will be doing this in the middle of her school day- trying to let her know what to expect.
Auburn’s processes are a nightmare. I found the email by going to the Admissions website / Admitted Students /somewhere there was a small link for the email. Once she clicked on the link, her email opened and she found the housing deposit time email. We got lucky with a Noon central deposit time tomorrow
Lucky you! It sounds like it was worth the hassle of finding the email to get such a good time!
Agreed! We are thrilled with the deposit time. We almost did not find out because my DD could not figure out where to access her email for 3 days until I finally stepped in. She has even less patience for dealing with bureaucracy than I do. Hope this kid survives in college. Lol.
I really do not understand why they make everything so much more complicated than it needs to be. It took my kid a good 45 minutes to activate her Auburn account, do the duo factor, etc., etc. And b/c they use Outlook for their email there was something else she needed to do to easily be able to receive those emails on her iPhone. I am not tech savvy at all so my husband helped her with all of this stuff but what a process!
Also would be interested in the process as mine will need to do between classes next week!
So, I just paid the housing deposit. What an unnecessarily stressful process. I paid the deposit on behalf of my DD, as she is in class and not able to access electronics. A few things to know. You MUST have your student’s Auburn ID, which begins with 90xxx. The very first thing that you do is sign the housing contract with the student ID. Second, you will have to provide parent information and email. Parent must approve an email sent by the school before you can proceed to making a payment. Finally, you will have to rank all 8 housing communities before you can make the payment. So, happy to be done with this piece and coast until March!
Good to know. Thank you! Glad I can do without her.
Thank you for sharing!
Has anyone from EA1 acceptance received an acceptance later or package from Auburn yet? We have not but I see in my US Mail account that a package from Daphne, AL is en route. Obviously Daphne is not Auburn, but we don’t ever get packages from anywhere in Alabama, so it caught my eye. Anyone else?
Mine has not received anything yet. Her brother who is a sophomore at Auburn received a great full sized Auburn Class of 2028 flag in the spring. Hoping she gets one too!
Thanks for this. My husband is meeting D26 at school today for her Noon ET time slot. I sent them a very detailed email with a screenshot of the step by step instructions as well as a link to the instructions. Really hoping they don’t mess this up
He is off today so made the most sense for him to be the one doing it. Fingers crossed. And speaking from experience, this is NOTHING compared to to room selection day

@coastal2024 and other moms of older Auburn boys: How does summer Rush work? Do boys have enough time to see the houses during their orientation weekend or do they go back for another weekend as well? When do they get their bids? Do they hold on to their bids all summer or accept the bid that same weekend? If they accept a bid during orientation weekend, when does it become official?? Do they get to buy stuff with their letters on it during the summer?
Your son should plan on a few trips down to Auburn in the summer (if possible). When he schedules his Camp War Eagle orientation, he should plan on either the weekend before a M/T CWE session, or the weekend after a Th/F CWE session. My son and I stayed for a full week (arrived on a Thursday) and he did Fri night and Saturday fraternity stuff, then CWE on M/T, then we stayed for a few more days so he could do more Fraternity activities. They typically post their events a few weeks ahead of time and events are Friday nights and Saturday/Saturday nights. They do not usually do things on Sundays. My son ended up going again on his own in mid-July and received a bid at that visit. He accepted on the spot. They can either accept, HOLD, or decline. If they HOLD a bid they must be very clear about when they need to let the rush chair know their answer. It can be anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks. Every house is different.
Official Rush begins in August once they are back on campus and there are a bunch of activities. Then formal rush begins. If you are active on Facebook I HIGHLY recommend joining the Auburn Fraternity Recruitment parent page for parents- TONS of good information there.
They are NOT allowed to wear ANYTHING with letters until they are officially a brother which is when Rush ends, usually around Halloween.
ETA: @BHCF care to add anything?
Thanks!!! Very helpful! Which house is he in? How many houses did he visit?
I will DM you
Got his housing app in by 12:02!! Phew! That was intense!
Haha us too! My husband handled it since he is off work - glad that is behind us.
