If I am reading this correctly:

Based on the press release 55k applied 12K of those from AL. In total ~39% accepted. But 34% of those accepted are from AL which means ~60% of AL applicants accepted (7500). This works out to about 14k out of state accepted. So out of state acceptance rate was around 33%.

Avg sat score was 1340. Up from around 1310 last year and 1290 the year before. But has to be increasing more for our of state given lower acceptance rate.

Check my math but think this is pretty close based on info in the press release.

Deferred status hears by March. What is the class size?

Pre covid freshman class size was around 4800. After covid is increased to about 5300 and then last year ballooned to 6000.

Do you know what their transfer rate is after freshman year?

Transferring in? They don’t give year but they had 4500 transfer applications last year. Half were accepted. And half of those enrolled.

And to break it down even further:

I know housing is very time sensitive at Auburn. If my kid applied RD is there any chance of getting on-campus housing?

I THINK (though not 100% sure) you’re mixing 1310/1290 (attending) versus 1340 (accepted). Once those accepted turn into admits the number will come down slightly.

Probably not…unless he/she pairs up with a student with an early room selection time. Once a student it linked to another student(s) in the housing portal, the student with the earliest selection time can place all roommates in the room. Works out well for students like those in the Village with 3 other roommates - chances are someone has an early time!

Yes you are correct I need to find the avg dat score for applicants last year.
The press release for last year said 28.2 act score but rereading it appears that was for accepted.

We were told by admissions last years strong applicants 50% were 27-31 ACT and a 1240-1370 SAT. I don’t know if this is accepted vs enrolled.

My son is deferred oos 1290 w 3.8. Waiting on March decision. Sent in mid year grades and optional essay.

I can honestly say I know a lot of peers that were accepted early oos had 29 ACT/1300 SAT. Seems to be the line oos imo.

Did any of your kids apply test-optional?

Applied TO with a 3.9 gpa, plus 4.3gpa grades for senior year semester grades (just submitted). Since Auburn is test preferred unsure if we will be considered…

Is that weighted or unweighted? My daughter was deferred and applied TO. Wondering what her chances are plus we’re OOS!

Weighted and OOS. A friend got in this week after being deferred with a 3.7 but had 1350 SAT

We applied with scores. It seems most TO have been deferred. Our tour said they maybe phasing out TO option next year at Auburn

A number of schools are removing TO (e.g., I just heard that Dartmouth is). They are getting too many applications, and with GPA inflation, it is hard for them to evaluate. It hasn’t worked out as well as they hoped - some students they accepted are struggling. They want to accept students who will be successful and not set them up for failure. I understand that standardized testing is not everyone’s strong suit, but…

Unfortunately, there is no perfect solution, whatever way you look at it - test required, test preferred, test optional. Despite our hopes and their attempts, the college admissions process is not “fair.”
