Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

For those looking at off campus housing, I can across this link and thought it was super helpful. Luckily, we are secure for another year in the Village, but already thinking ahead for
Fall 2025. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

We’re out of state and pretty turned off by being accepted and housing already full. It’s not a welcome feel although im sure it’s a welcoming school! Finding off campus housing as a freshman is a big downer

Per the parent’s group on Facebook, as of 4pm Friday there were plenty of beds in South Donahue still available (shared doubles). Also beds in The Hill.

The Auburn parent’s Facebook groups is almost comical. “Can’t believe my son’s group of 9 can’t find an open room on the penthouse of the school president’s office building! Also, does anyone have the exact dimensions of the power outlet in the second bathroom from the right? Finally, are there any Michigan males that practice Polytheistic religions of ancient Greece and Rome that are still looking for roommates? If not, I just don’t think my son can go there.”

FWIW, Auburn isn’t unique in this regard. Peruse any of the school’s FB pages and you’ll find the same.

From my out of state son when I mentioned the housing crunch:

“it’s barely worth living “on campus“, can just live off campus at one of the close places and probably pay less and not have to worry about dorms closing for breaks.”

I know that can be hard to wrap your head around and I would have not said this last year in the same spot as you but off campus close to campus has a ton of advantages.

LOL this is perfect. My D23 goes to another SEC school with similar space issues and there’s not nearly as much drama. Yeah, people want to live on campus and are disappointed when space runs out but no one’s saying they’d rather send their kid to a different school or have a gap year if they don’t get their dorm - both have been said on that page.

also I don’t think people realize that a lot of off campus housing is closer to campus than three of the “on campus” housing options. My son said I’d he didn’t get the village he would have rather lived “off campus” for a variety of reasons (cheaper, no lock out dates during breaks, stove, larger, etc
)

Good info
 the concern was meeting people if already off campus freshman year vs dorms but maybe that isn’t an issue and you meet people regardless

Mine is now too! I really appreciate your support and I hope our sons meet next year!

I know this is a post from last year but was wondering how your son met up with the fraternities during his February visit? Did he reach out on social media or did he know other kids already in the frat? We will be going this February for a weekend and thinking he should try and meet with a few.

Many of the frats are already posting Spring events on social media (Instagram). Your son should follow ones he’s interested and it doesn’t hurt to reach out to the rush chair to show interest. If he is an incoming freshman, it might be a little early to attend events sine they’re focused on new pledges for the Spring, but definitely can’t hurt to get his name out there.

I posted on the Auburn parent’s Facebook page and a few people sent me DMs. Also you can follow the individual houses on IG and DM them that way- I am sure they would be happy to meet up.
