$24,000 merit
My daughter just got the Baylor Distinction Award in the amount of $25k per year!
Are these Distinction Awards in addition to I2E awards? Iām unclear on the difference.
confused what the exact criteria is for different amounts. i have 12 APs and 1510 SAT with a 3.97UW and 4.37W. can i appeal for more aid?
Yes they are different. This is the amount that they used to award when you were accepted back in the Fall. They have moved it to February notification.
If Invitation to Excellence is awarded it would be stacked with todays merit award.
Not sure on criteria except we were told by admissions that test scores are not considered for this initial merit offer. They use test scores to invite students to the other scholarship programs. I have seen people appeal and be successful and unsuccessful so I guess it doesnāt hurt to try?
Thank you. I donāt feel that was made clear initially. We will be attending I2E next weekend and was wondering if it was still worth going.
We received our Baylor Distinction award this evening in the amount of $19k per year. Just received the email.
What are the levels of the Baylor Distiction Award?
My son just recieved the Distinction Award email also moments ago - $14K/year.
I just looked and I saw it says award range from $1,000 to full tuition. I didnāt see anything other than a required minimum of 3.0 to qualify.
We received a Distinction award of $10k today
We attended the I2E event last weekend. We were told the initial merit awards coming out today (by Feb 3) were based on the application for admission. The I2E scholarship would be a separate and stackable award and we would be notified by March 1 about it. Then any departmental awards, etc are separate and stackable as well.
My son received a distinction award for $20k per year.
He was also previously accepted for Honors College, but I didnāt see any merit award specifically for this?
Is the Honors College merit separate?
Does anyone know of honors merit is separate from the merit we received today? I know we are waiting in I2E, but trying to keep track of everything
Deleting. We can feel how we want about it and you can feel how you want to. I wonāt tell you how you should feel.
No GI bill or financial aid so merit is EVERYTHING.
My S24 received $40,000 over 4 years. Very generous in light his solid but not spectacular stats.
They accepted your son and gave him $14K a year - Iād say they like him a lot.
Some schools donāt have to offer as much in merit to attract students, so thatās probably why other schools offered more. Thereās a reason why your kid loves Baylor. Itās amazing. The fact that ED students got merit scholarships says that Baylor is looking at the application as a whole which I think is fair and not demoralizing.
$19k/year in Distinction today; stats:
34 ACT
4.03 unweighted, 4.3 weighted
9 APās (including A+ in each of Chem, USHAP & Calc AB junior year), all 5ās so far except one 4
Highest scouting award, part-time job
Wondering if $19k/year is high/low/about right, because it will still cost about $50k total per year to attend
