Here we go - new hostess (Karlie Kloss), new mentor (Christian Siriano) and one familiar judge (Nina Garcia).
I actually thought they got it right last night. Liked the black dress, thought the caftan looked like a caftan (not a ball dress)
Watched PR on Bravo tonight. By the way that they featured her all night, it was clear to me that the one who went home was going to be out before they even walked the runway. I hope it’s not that predictable every week. I also did not agree. The other one in the bottom was worse in every way. (fit, design, construction, you name it)
Except for personality
Agree @bookworm - Cavanaugh was a pompous brat. At least Frankie was humble.
I didn’t know they were being judged on personality.
@musicmom1215 - they weren’t, however karma and all that…
I felt so sorry for the model walking down the runway in the blue bathing suit (maybe it wasn’t a bathing suit?). It was heartwarming to see so many of the other designers jumping in to help Frankie finish her garment, though (especially considering they all had just met).
That blue thing was awful. I never heard anyone call it a bathing suit. I think Nina said body suit. Where would a person wear such a thing? And why would a “curvy” person want her cheeks hanging out? The losing design wasn’t great by any means, but at least one could wear it in public.
I really liked the other “top” outfit with the scarf thing. And I think that designer was one of the more mature ones. Good for her.
I liked the winning look, but I didn’t think it looked all that expensive like Nina said. I’m sure a lot gets lost on the tv screen. It must have looked great in person.
Just reread my comments. I didn’t mean to sound so snarky. I guess I was irritated because my weekend has been commandeered by my mother who makes her projects suddenly turn into MY projects. Sorry. I will chill.
I only caught the end of it midway through the runway. I very much liked the winner but I agree that blue bathing suit/body suit was hideous. Cavanaugh’s was pretty simple but attractive even if it didn’t show much creativity.
It was the lack of creativity that got the loser sent home. The blue thing was awful, but at least she waas attempting something different, she was able to articulate her inspiration, and she was able to explain her issue. The losing look showed no creativity, the most striking thing about it was the belt that she pulled off the accessory wall. She could not articulate her inspiration for the look, and she argued that her design did not work the way she intended, but she did not provide any evidence of that (ie the failed jacket) At the end of the day, all things being awful, this is a show about the design process and the blue body suit showed more design then the plain black top and skirt.
Nadine Ralliford has a remarkable speaking voice. Her bio says she is a Professor. I’d take her class just to hear her speak. If the fashion designer thing doesn’t work out, she should narrate audio books.
Nadine had a pretty poor attitude tonight!
There were a couple that made me gasp out loud (in a good way) - Sebastian (it makes me want to be able to wear that - I’m 5’2”…not happening!), Hester (I smiled ear to ear with hers) and Tessa (I find her designs understatedly beautiful). I didn’t understand Covin’s - I think perhaps it didn’t translate through TV.
I’m fine with the eliminated designer.
** Whoops - Kovid not Covin
Well, I didn’t quite get that challenge. I did love Hester’s look, though.
I loved Hester’s look, too. I thought the look that won was going to be in the bottom.
I’m actually amazed and impressed that anyone could make anything under those conditions. Absolutely ridiculous.
I agree about how ridiculous it was to have them working outside. I’m guessing this was in October? Brr. That poor model was shivering. I doubt they’ll do something like that again.
I thought the winning look was going to get her sent home. No idea what the judges wanted here. And the losing look, didn’t get what they hated about it. Did like Hester’s look. Being out doors was goofy even for unconventional materials challenge.
At lest I’m starting to be able to tell the contestants apart and remember what their design esthetic is…
