Last year they sent an email for students to apply for honors. Not everyone was sent the email.
Last year, around 1 in 6 students who are invited to apply to Honors are accepted into the program. It comes with an obligation to take an additional 1-2 units per year plus 14 GE units.
I do not recommend OOS students to apply because it would incur $264/unit OOS charge.
The biggest benefit is having priority registration for the first 2 years.

has anyone heard anything for journalism? high school student here, (bay area norcal), my high school is a feeder school for SLO but me and a few other people with last names further down on the alphabet havent heard anything from slo as of yet. Its making me a bit anxious about my decision. My last name starts with a V.

Some students at my son’s school (large public in So Cal) got accepted today. My son and his friends have not heard. At least one of them I would expect to get in so kind of strange but who knows.

My kid was invited to apply to honors, but is engineering and has fulfilled all but two GE requirements with AP and CC courses. The registration and housing would be great but doesn’t sound like it would be worth it.
Cal Poly GE Policy:
-A minimum of 12 units is required in residence (i.e., while enrolled as a Cal Poly student).
-A minimum of 12 units is required at the upper-division level (8 units upper-division for ABET-accredited engineering programs)
So students must take at least 3 GE at Cal Poly.
