Now on the MyPortal, I can see 3 TODOs. One for Accept/Decline, one for final transcript, but another one for partial transcript IMMEDIATELY. Is that normal? Why would they want a partial transcript AFTER they have posted the decision?
Was this part of yesterday’s wave? Or is this from today?
Edit: I see you posted yesterday that your son was accepted. Congrats, btw.
Not sure but if you take the minimum A-G courses from 9-11th which would be 5 classes/year or 30 semesters with the 8 point Honors cap, your maximum SLO GPA calculates out to a 4.27. Any more courses than 30 semesters will continue to dilute your SLO GPA. SLO use to cap the GPA at 4.20 years ago.
Would the GPA range tell that if your GPA is below the lower band in your College, then you will be rejected? In other words, the cut-off to apply for a major is the lower band.
Previous years the GPA listed on the Freshman profile was the 25-75th percentile range. For 2023, it is not specified but possibly implied. Still possible for students to be admitted outside these ranges since GPA alone is not the only admission consideration.
what is the required GPA for getting into computer science/engineering (if it’s even public)? I have a 4.25 gpa listed on the academic records part of the application but haven’t heard anything from SLO yet. I tried using the MCA calculator but it is outdated as the SAT is no longer accepted. I’m wondering if my gpa/classes taken were below some sort of threshold.
There is no minimum GPA required for any specific major but being within the profile range could only be helpful. Only a minimum GPA required to apply to the CSU system. Again, GPA is not the only selection criteria for admission.
Not a fan as well! Very distressing.
Yes, City and Regional Planning major. He is a youth board member of one of our local bike and trail non-profits, and this major seems to be a great fit with his skills and interests. He got all the way to Precalc as a Junior, but for his senior year he took financial algebra. His course work was pretty well rounded. He took AP history, lang, environmental sci, and human geography in addition to a cal state level speech class, which might have helped.
Did a 2nd wave come out ? Has anyone gotten in today ?
Not me personally, but I have a friend who receives an email about an hour ago today. And I don’t know the details, but she got excepted into the communication major.
Decision: Accepted
Major: Manufacturing Engineering
SLO GPA: 3.87
Number of UC approved Honors/AP/IB or DE courses: 5 APs, 2 dual enrollment, 1 concurrent enrollment, every other class was honors (not counted though as I’m out of state)
EC hours and with leadership or job related: 6-10hrs weekly major related work, 21hrs weekly ECs with leadership
In-State/OOS/International: OOS
Number of years for the following courses:
English: 4
Math: 6
Science: 7
Foreign Language: 4
Social Science/History: 3.5
Visual/Performing Arts: 3
I applied to Manufacturing Eng because it had a higher acceptance rate than the others, but my brother who went to SLO for Manufacturing loved it, so I am happy with it! For reference, I was accepted during the wave yesterday.
Congratulations. How hard is to change major in college of engineering
Wondering if there were any Chemistry Majors accepted. My daughter is still waiting to hear. TIA!

Yes, there was a report of a student being accepted for chemistry
My sense is that the college does not make it easy and erects barriers to doing it. I would not go to CalPoly as a Manufacturing Engineer with the intent of changing to another engineering major like mechanical or computer for example, because it likely won’t happen.
Edited:
FYI.
There is currently a wave of SLO Transfer admits posting right now.
My daughters bf just got accepted via transfer - Ags Comm.
