My understanding is that Lawrenceville’s acceptance rate is in the high teens. Most applicants are qualified, which means most qualified applicants do not gain acceptance. Therefore, you and your parents should make sure you have additional options for high school, in case, as is likely (just because of the low odds), you do not gain acceptance and the financial aid to cover the cost even if you do.

I know less about Lawrenceville than the other schools in this category, so don’t have a gut feel as to how they think about SSAT’s.

But I like the ingredients of your app, especially if your school has connects with Lawrenceville (and it sounds like it does). I particularly like the bit about you helping the 6th graders get used to middle school. Shows leadership and (school) community contribution. And you got a Leadership award to back that up. So assuming you will get good recommendations from your school, your interview will go a long way to demonstrating fit. When is that?

To be fair, chancing to a school with a low acceptance rate is just folly.

I’m assuming you’re happy continuing at your LPS as a Plan B if you’re only applying to L’ville.

You have an interesting resume, but I don’t need to tell you the test score is low. Hopefully it will improve next time.

Good luck

I did the interview already in October and it went pretty well every answer was well coordinated and it was way better than I thought it would be

yeees the assumption is correct im just going all in cause my public feeder high school is great so idrc that much

How many kids from your school go to Lawrenceville?

Like I said, if your school has a relationship with them, that will go a long way to explaining the low SSATs. I said elsewhere that I know a kid who got into Andover with a similar SSAT, but the school vouched for them and it wasn’t disqualifying.

You should try it again and try to bump it up in any case. Like most important things in life, ya gotta sell it. In this case through a very holistically strong folder. But that takes focus and effort to stand out amongst very strong candidates who care a lot.

On paper, you are an interesting candidate. L’ville has traditionally been a bit tougher to get into as a day student than boarder. Your test score won’t help. It’s hard to make a prediction without knowing what your current school’s relationship is with L’ville, but it’s almost certainly not a slam dunk.

Since you have a good public option that you like, there’s no need to cast a wider net (Peddie, Hun, PDS, George, Pennington) which are all viable options as a day student.

yes and i know it seems like I don’t care that much but I do and I will update my score once it comes out and i actually take it again (on Saturday)

I’m not sure how many kids from my school go to lawrenceville, however, when i got interviewed and i said i was from my school the interviewer stated how they interview at least a few kids from my school every year

yeaa I was thinking about peddie but that’shalf an hour away no one’s driving me that far and id rather not board and Pennington doesn’t have a volleyball team and hun just doesn’t seem fitting for me i took summer classes and camps there
