Chances for Lawrenceville and Hill?

I’m planning on applying to these two schools for the 2011-2012 schoolyear where I would be a senior/5th form for Lville/6th form for Hill. I am a little worried if I will get in or not. My grades are pretty good, I have mostly As except a B in AP Statistics and a B in Trigonomety Honors( where both were 92.3 on a scale where an A would be 92.5 but my school doesn’t distinguish percentages so a B is a B). I skipped two math grades, so I am a little bit ahead. I am a level 10 pianist according to the National Music Certificate Program where only ARCT(basically professional or teaching) is higher than level 10. I received 9th in state two ywars consecutively for the national french test. I was the 21st best flutist in the state my freshman year. I was 1st chair flute for my school’s symphonic band. I was a member of the Varsity Cross Country and Varsity Track team, earning a Varsity Letter in both for earning a lot of points for my team. I was awarded"best first year runner" for cross country," best distance runner" for track, and “comeback runner” for overcoming an injury and persisting to help my team in cross country. I am a member of a math tutoring program and a science tutoring program for students struggling in those areas( as in I tutor others). I have 150 community service hours so far. I am an active member of Habitat for Humanity. I am from West Virginia( if such a remote place will help me at all). I will probably need a little bit of financial aid. I think I am a pretty well-rounded person, and my running times would make me a top competitor in both of those schools mentioned above(probably one of the best for Hill).

Yes, you should apply to both the schools you mentioned. There is a very good school in WV. Linsley or something like that. Good luck.

Yeah, its a pretty good school I went there for freshman year-they just teach in french too.

I go to Lawrenceville just so you know if anything seems biased. I personally do believe that Lawrenceville is a better school if you get into both, in that I believe Lawrenceville is more prestige and can be grouped with the other BS’s like Phillips Academies, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, St Pauls, Choate, etc. Not to say that Hill is a bad school. Again that probably seemed completely biased but just my opinion.

In terms of your chances, Id say definitely apply for both schools since you have a possibility to be accepted to both. Also if you’re looking at Lawrenceville and Hill, you can check out Peddie also. Since you seem to be a big track star, I will say, without bias, that Lawrenceville has a better track team, and track facilities. Best of luck.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure statistics-wise Lawrenceville is the best overall. I just wanted to have a safety school, because Hill is easier to get into. I was actually planning on applying to Peddie as well- I just don’t seem to like it as much. Haha. Yes- Hill’s track team is rather… Below-par according to the standards I’m used to. So, hopefully Lawrenceville’s is much much much better. Thanks for your reply!:)

go to hill!

Haha. Guessing you go to Hill bcse of your comment and your username?

Apply to The Hill. I really dont believe L’ville is better than The hill. They both have there strengths and weaknesses and I’ve been to both. I’d rather go to the hill actually. It just has a really strong vibe coming from it.

You’re applying to Hill (aka Lawrenceville’s HUGE rival) as the safety? Good luck telling the interviewers that  Haha jk, I’m sure they’ll understand. It’s just a bit funny. I think you could get into both.

By the way – I’m sorry I’m really not trying to cause fights or anything, but Lawrenceville and Hill are almost never even nearly grouped together unless you’re talking about their rivalry, or their geography (MAPL) or something. But I agree, different schools are better for different people.
