milkshakespeare, what kind of trapeze do you do (when you do not have a broken tailbone!) Two of my daughters are aerial acrobats!.

Milkshakesp., so so sorry to hear about your injury, and I hope you mend quickly. My son broke his ankle quite badly last winter and all we could think was “thank goodness it’s not his audition year.” Sending many good thoughts your way.

Photomom, you and I are living parallel lives. I’m the photography teacher/yearbook advisor at our school, so I both watched and photographed two dress rehearsals of my son’s last mainstage this week. His character dies in the end, just to add to my weeping. I’ll be editing “King and I” pictures all the way through spring break at this rate…but at least it takes my mind off the college process! :)

Feel better Milk!

milk, sorry to hear about your accident and injuries! That is too bad. As you say, at least your auditions were done!

In my D’s audition year, right after her final audition, she was in a bad car accident and severely injured and I was glad that the auditions were done. I can also relate to the crying moms of their kids’ last shows at school, etc., though due to my D’s accident and recovery, she was then out of all of her “lasts” in high school and so we missed out on that too.

Milky, you are a trouper. Can’t believe you are going through this and are not even whining about it. Please let us all know when you are up and about again and keep us posted on your acceptances because we know you will have many more
And Soozievt, thats awful but look at what our kids manage to over come with a little help from great parents like you!

Milk… So sorry to hear about your injury:( I hope you heal fast,as of now it is probably more of a nuisance than anything else.

I have been keeping up with everybody everyday on this board. It is so exciting and I am sure exhausting. I can’t wait to see where every one ends up. It is like a mystery novel.

As far as my DS you guys have been great with the suggestions and his list is finalizing. We are heading out to OH in a few weeks to visit some LAC’s, Oberlin, Wooster and Kenyon. I really have NO idea which direction he will go next year, but he is intent on leaving all of his options open. He recently added Ithaca to his list. What were your impressions? I really know nothing about the school. We decided to visit the east coast schools next fall. It is going to be interesting to see my DS’s reaction to the OH schools and the remoteness of a couple of them. I see him at a big city but he is not convinced. He is the type of kid who likes something going on every minute, and gets bored really easily.

Wanted to close by saying GOOD LUCK to all:)))))

milkshakespeare, sorry I just read your post now. How scary to be hit by a car! I’m so glad you’re ok and glad you can be on pain meds. Please take care of yourself. You are indeed a trouper. Keep us posted.

Times3, I had to watch my son not only die, but kill off half the cast last night! However, it is a fun show and I love the music…I really should be editing the pics but I have no time before carpool. And that is my story and I am sticking to it!!! LOL…

Sorry to hear Milk, hope you feel better.

Last audition on our end is this Saturday at BU. It will be strange not to have a weekend trip on the calendar.

I’m sorry, Milk! That’s dreadful and very painful, I’ve heard. Hopefully you’ll have a speedy recovery!

Ouch - nothing worse than the ol’ tailbone cracking. Feel better soon.

ActingDad - more snow coming to us this Saturday, but late. So if you are heading back home after the audition, you should be fine. Break a leg to your D!

Oh my goodness, Milky! Take your pain meds and try to rest and be comfortable!

I hate that my D didn’t get to experience her last high school musical. Oh well, it is what it is, and she has learned and grown from it.

We are in Chicago and are supposed to be heading out for Pittsburgh in the morning. I’m a little concerned about the driving being a bit dicey, but we have to go. I’m planning on leaving here around mid morning, so maybe things will be okay.

Here’s a small update: In Ohio, she visited Wright State and Otterbein. She liked Wright State and thought the interview went well. However, she LOVED Otterbein!! (Me, too!) She seemed very happy with the way that interview went. I was impressed with the personnel, the setting, current students, just everything, really.

Chicago: This is our first visit to Chicago. It has taken some getting used to, but I think it would grow on me quickly.
She liked DePaul. She said her interview was good, but she didn’t come out of it “knowing” how it went. (That is in contrast to CCU, Shenandoah, Webster, and Otterbein, where she left the interviews feeling really good about them.) She likes Chicago and would love to be accepted, but she isn’t trying to read too much into it right now. I will say that the people in Chicago are SOOOO nice!! :)

We end our little journey at Point Park. PPU has been near the top of her list since she started this search. We love Pittsburgh, so we’ll see how this one goes. I can’t believe it’s almost all complete now. She does have one final day in April, but that is her safety in state. Now, we wait…

ugadog, Your D has done so well with this process . What a journey!
Curious as to where she will wind up.

I had a feeling you guys would like Otterbein, ugadog–glad to hear your trip is going well!

Ugadog, I would love to hear more about why you loved Otterbein. My daughter felt great about her audition with them in Chicago. Can you tell us more!? :)

I’m checking in very quickly from our favorite city: Pittsburgh! (Yes, and I know how odd that sounds!) We saw Chess last night at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. We’ve now seen one straight play, Seven Guitars, and one musical from Point Park. Just absolutely amazing on all fronts!

I find it very ironic, or very appropriate, that we began this journey in Pittsburgh and will end it today in Pittsburgh. I will be back later for an update to the Point Park day and to give more details about Otterbein.

Keep your fingers crossed and send lots of pixie dust today because PPU has been near the top of her list since this process began. :)

Double-fisted pixie dust sprinkle coming your way, ugadog!

Sending more pixie dust coated with Georgia rain to you and your daughter, ugadog!!!

We made it home but just barely! I rented a car from a local Avis because I was worried about my 2004 Trailblazer with high mileage making that long journey. Turns out, I should have trusted Lucy (my sweet old truck) to get me where I was going just like she has for almost 10 years.

Saturday night a rear tire blew on the rental. Avis was HORRIBLE to deal with in getting the issue resolved! Through the extreme kindness of the West VA Courtesy Patrol, the tire was changed and I was escorted to a safe area to wait for Avis. SIX and a HALF hours later, Avis finally gets a replacement car to me. As it turns out, the courtesy patrol and the tow truck operator both said the back tires were retreaded tires that should have never been driven. I have pictures of the tire that didn’t blow showing exposed wire and a split all around the tire forming. Having driven through Winter Storm Q, it is a miracle that I didn’t wreck and injury or kill us or someone else. Avis doesn’t care and has been downright nasty to me. I’m not finished with them, yet.

To the colleges: Point Park was a wonderful experience. The current students are so nice, helpful, and very talented. The faculty puts the prospectives at ease and are extremely approachable. There is a new facility slated to begin work at some point. I think it looks doubtful that they will get it completed before 2017 graduation, though.

I’m pleased to say that I think my D has schools chosen where she will be happy. I don’t know that any one school is the “be all and end all” for her now. I’m glad we made all these visits because we wouldn’t know which schools to keep and which to drop without visiting the campus. I guess we are now at the wait and see stage.

Many thanks to all for your suggestions, advice, and continued support! I will be back this evening to give more thoughts about Otterbein.

Wow such a bad experience on the road!! Avis’s response was totally ridiculous!
