Congrats Mantori and kudos to your son! Congrats to collegeorbust10 and D too! What a nice way to start the holiday week.

I just got my acceptance to loyola chicago yesterday on the way to my aunts house for thanksgiving! it was great being able to go there and tell them all. it is such a relief.

D was admitted to the University of New Haven with a $10,000 merit award and to Hawaii Pacific University with a $3,500 merit award this week. (We live in NYC so I hope HPU is at the bottom of her list but I have a feeling she can’t wait to leave these cold newyork winters behind haha) 7 more schools to go…the first acceptances are so great! Good luck to everyone.

Good for you, cross0328 and CollegeBoundNYC! Cheers!

My son got an acceptance letter from Pitt yesterday! Whooooo, that’s two!

Congratulations to cross0328, CollegeBoundNYC and mantori.suzuki on your, or your kids’, acceptances.

mantori, D was also accepted at Pittsburgh–it’s a great school and it’s moved near the top of D’s list.:)

D just got her acceptance letter this weekend from Mercer along with $18k/year merit scholarship award and an invitation to the scholarship competition in January. Mercer isn’t in her top 5 choices, but she was happy to see the acceptance and know there is some scholarship money out there for her.

My D has been accepted to 3 of the 7 schools she has applied to and has been offered merit money at all 3, and she plans to apply to 2 more RD schools. She was accepted to University of the Pacific with a $10,000/yr scholarship, Mills College with an $18,500/year scholarship, and Whittier College with a full tuition ($34,000/year) scholarship.

NicHayTea, congratulations on Mercer! They do a very nice job with their scholarship competition weekend, although it sounds like the process has changed since 2006.

Thanks ThatMom! If you have any information on the scholarship competition weekend, we’d sure appreciate it! I have googled and googled, but can’t really find out exactly what the competition exactly entails. This is the only school she’s applying to that does this, and honestly she’s a little concerned about what they are expecting from her IF she attends that weekend.

Four envelopes came from the University of Alabama today. My wife figured that there must be something wrong, and that they must not be acceptance letters, because they wouldn’t have sent four copies in four separate envelopes. So she opened one, and…

…our son was accepted at the University of Alabama! Hooray!

My question is, what’s in the other three envelopes? I’m hoping they all contain lucrative scholarship offers, but I they wouldn’t be making offers this early, would they?

Anyway, we’re saving the last three envelopes until we can call our son tonight, and we’ll open them “together.”

My DD received a different envelope for every program she expressed interest in during her application process from University of the Pacific. So, she received one envelope with a congrats on her acceptance to the communications major and another envelope giving her instructions on applying for the pre-law program, and a third for the legal studies program. This was in response to her answers to the questions of what programs she would be interested in on the supplemental application.

My son got multiple letters from UT also. One from the president, one from the dean of the college of engineering, and one from admissions. Then a couple of weeks later, a postcard from a “student ambassador” congratulating him. It was kind of neat opening all the mail, even though the letters pretty much said the same thing over and over again. But, since he’s not applying anywhere else, that’s his only way to get multiple letters LOL

Congrats mantori and all the rest!!! It’s so exciting to see all the positive results (especially the ones with $$$$)

DD got accepted to West Virginia University!!! (B/C student,OOS) Such a look of relief on her face when she found out. And she knows she would be happy to go there! Congratulations to everyone so far!
(Also, DS (also a B/C student) got accepted into Virginia Commonwealth and he is doing great. He made the Dean’s list for 3 semesters and is making plans for grad school now. So parents of average students, take heart! There are wonderful schools out there that would be delighted to accept your kid. And these are schools where your kid can thrive!!

Congratulations, yorkyfan! I hear WVU is beautiful. Sorry, what is a B/C student?

Son received acceptances from U of Michigan, U of Minnesota, Twin Cities and Purdue!!
Now waiting to hear if any $$$$$$$$$$$ We are OOS for all. U of MI first choice!!

Congrats on acceptance!! My son also got accepted in early Nov and has not yet heard about any $$. I think they may automatically go into a scholarship pool and may hear something in Dec. for non-need. Other need based not until after FASA filed. We are OOS and he is applying for separate engineering scholarships listed on web sites. Good luck. Are you OOS??

mantori.suzuki,
B/C student just means she got Bs and Cs in high school. Congrats to your kid’s acceptances by the way!!

Oh, I feel silly now. Thanks for clarifying. I thought B/C was some hip new shorthand. :)

congrats, littlefalls!

My d was accepted to William and Mary yesterday. I know I’m not one of the more active posters here, but I did read every day and learned so much from you all. Thank you very much for all of your insight and help!
