My child did not apply to Emory. I’m just happy for you :).

My D just received news today that she is a National Scholars finalist at Clemson University! We weren’t expecting any news until Friday so it was a great surprise. She now has to go to the National Scholars weekend in Feb. for interviews, then will ne notified in March if she has been selected. We are just thrilled that she made it this far. I’m having everyone pray for her that she makes it to the end.

-burry,
Well, I’m still awaiting other responses but Minnesota is one of my top choices. If anything, I’m also waiting for Mcgill (Canada) response. But in the USA, Minnesota is easily my favorite! =)

So this is a little late but I got into Dartmouth College ED!

This is getting harder by the day!

D got into two safeties, one with merit aid - wonderful for the ego.
She got into two matches - one a SUNY that she is not excited about but would fit in perfectly; one an OOS public which she likes.

Hadn’t heard from any of her top 3 till yesterday, when she heard from UMD (really a reach for her)… and she got a Spring admit. Amazing that she got in at all and she absolutely loves this school.

Since she got a spring admit at UMD, I’m thinking she will get into her other top 2 choices - of course she won’t hear till mid-late March.

Then there’s SUNY Binghamton - which is another reach - and is telling OOS now, but not telling in-state till MARCH! Not fair – especially when Delaware is telling in-state now and OOS in March (Delaware is another of her top choices). (Not that she wants to go to Binghamton, but it’s a great school and the price is right!)

I know, none of it is “fair” but this thread mentions “support” so I thought it would be ok to vent here!

The good news is that D submitted all apps in October and now, at the end of Jan, she already has choices and knows she is in at a number of colleges.

Ok - Time to put this all out of my head until we get all the decisions and all the FA info.

I had no idea this process (the waiting) was going to be so trying. I guess I will know better for next time! (S is a HS freshman)

Thanks for listening.

D accepted EDII to Bucknell for engineering following her earlier acceptances to Case, Maryland, JMU.
:)

Now that we know where she’s going, let’s see if I can ween myself off of CC…
Best wishes to everybody!

Congrats Dad ‘o’ 2 on D’s Bucknell acceptance!

About that weening, CC is too hard of a habit to kick for me.

Hey guys, I got into SUNY Geneseo! I’m international so my parents have no idea which school is good or not, so I’m just saying it here. It was a low match of sorts. Is I’m being really arrogant, high safetyish. But I’m definitely considering it, it seems awesome.

It’s a great school! The most competitive of the NY State schools! Congratulations on your acceptance!

Thank you. I know its an awesome school, I was just saying my parents didn’t know the difference between Geneseo and Plattsburgh (also in). Haha but that doesn’t really matter, I’m happy.

EDIT: What the heck? Wrong thread!

S accepted EA to Emerson. Did not receive any aid --verified info would have been in admittance letter (still may make a trip to Boston to discuss)

Just applied to Hofstra and Lasell.

Missed Ithaca’s deadline-going to call them tomorrow.

Have until April 1st to apply to in-state.

Worst comes to worse, defer Emerson until Spring and he gets a job and I get a 2nd job…

Emerson is his #1 choice, I can swing the $18K EFC but was really hoping to bridge the gap…

Fingers (and toes) super crossed

OOS S accepted ED to VaTech general engineering. Just found the topic, so a little late to post. This was the only school he wanted to attend. The only application he sent–anywhere.
He had one semi-completed for another school but I am very glad he got into Tech.

My daughter was accepted to Emerson College EA (Honors Program) and UMass Amherst (Commonwealth College) so far. Still waiting for 5 more…

Congrats to intouch and d! All honors programs, not an easy feat.

Thanks PaperChaser. The waiting is not easy! Anyone know if they ever give you a decision before the decision date?

Daughter has been accepted to SAIC and PrattMWP. We are waiting on Otis, MICA, Pratt, RISD, Parsons, Cooper Union, and SMFA. PNCA app deadline is Monday, she hasn’t sent in portfolio yet, so we’re not technically waiting for that one yet, because the app isn’t complete.

For us, the choice will come down to money; the school that provides the aid package closest to a full ride will be the choice. Daughter has tried not to get too attached to any one school because of that.

^^
Some of your D’s school choices are on opposite ends of the country. Did she get to see any of them? My daughter loved NYC!

intouch1520: We’re an EFC=0 family; we don’t send children on multiple college trips! Daughter has visited PNCA and did SAIC ECP, but has never visited any of the other schools. She’ll do a visit when we have any acceptances and aid award letters, because it’s not affordable/a good use of our limited resources to visit schools she can’t attend.

TrinSF: That makes perfect sense! We too will be looking at a couple of schools that didn’t make sense to visit before. Good luck!
