I have not either. Wondered if waitlist was essentially their rejection
A couple of people on reddit mentioned being rejected, but I donāt know anyone personally (which doesnāt mean anything).
Agreed in general though wanted to chime in to note that a couple schools recently published their own stat for this and they were in the 98-99% range for ED enrollment, which I found interesting.
The āfinancialā window escape route from ED is becoming more popular, I think. Fair enough when good faith calculations arenāt met, but I know a few who just hoped for more, or assumed theyād qualify for āaverageā aid (who doesnāt feel average? Yet many people are not).
Or a kid tanks his senior year and gets admission rescinded or decides to take a gap year or join the military instead instead. 1-2% isnāt many kids.
For those of us still waiting⦠UofSC took a bunch of students off the waitlist yesterday. Iām hoping VT will start to do so, as well! Has anyone heard of anyone getting accepted off the waitlist?
Ahhh, Iām hoping this will be the case for my son! VT Architecture is his 1st choiceā¦.but he git accepted at U of A. We are crossing fingers tightly! We are OOS⦠not sure if thatās help! Does anyone recommend sending VT a letter of continued interest?
Wow. That seems early! Do you know how they were notified, or if they were working the waitlist - getting interviews etc?
Notified via email
VT waitlist FAQās say do not send any additional material.
I was curious from those of us still on the VT waitlist⦠which schools are your students considering? VT is my daughterās first choice. But of course, we have to have to sign somewhere soon. She is between UofSC (just got off the waitlist) and Indiana University she is a psychology major.
Purdue, University of Illinois U-C, University of Maryland, Penn State, Colorado-Boulder, RPI, and Syracuse, all accepted for Aerospace Engineering. We just attended Admitted Student days at Purdue and UIUC. Purdue is likely going to be his choice. He loved it and the AE program is highly regarded.
Impressive⦠you cannot go wrong with Purdue. He has some great choices!
Mostly RIT and U Cincinnati (DAAP) for industrial design. I want her to consider the College for Creative Studies but she is really just pondering those two schools.
Purdue Danielās is DSās first choice. I donāt think thereās much chance of getting off the waitlist for VT, he wasnāt offered a pathway like Verto (does VT do that?). Interested to see what happens with waitlists this year given the FAFSA delays.
I donāt think VT does the pathway, not that Iāve heard. A college counselor told me that they put a lot of students on the waitlist, and he wouldnāt be surprised if many came off of it. They are trying to figure out their yield since they took away the Early Decision option. Agreed the FAFSA will be interesting⦠many waiting on that. We shall see!
Thank you. He does have some great options and heāll be happy, but in state tuition would have been nice!
I wonder if the students that get off the waitlist (if there are any this year) are the ones that have reached out to the school, or if itās by major, IS/OOS etc.
Felt like waitlist is the new rejection (!), but now that some are starting to come off the waitlists, and itās not even past May 1, the landscape is changing again.
Agree. Iām not sure Virginia Tech rejected anyone. Seems like everyone went to waitlist.
I do know VT does admissions by major, so assuming that they will take kids off the waitlist by major.
