It does seem that the buttons do mean something. But at the end of the day could just be nothing. We are fully expecting a deferral and have braced ourselves for that, even though the button is gone. I actually have not even told my daughter about it because I don’t want her to get her hopes up when it could mean nothing.
On another note, I know last year was the first year that Clemeonneven did EA and they only accepted about 10% at EA if I remember reading that correctly. I really hope that they have more clear admissions or denials this year and having the extra two weeks to go through them all as well.
I think not having it at this point might be a good sign. Both me and my friend don’t have it, and we are oos and high stat (1520 and 1540 sat respectively).
So true…as we are hoping for a deferral, not a deny, I can only guess it is bc they put anyone who wasn’t high stats aside to sift through after they made the obvious EA acceptances…assuming the button disappears for everyone prior to tomorrow at 6pm.
IMO no buttons is good, solely based on our not-so-scientific poll. I realize it’s a total guess, but it’s pretty swayed with the high stats kids not having any buttons (and also the really low stat kids still having two). Let’s be sure to post button status along with acceptance results. Good luck!!
Clemson weighs class rank heavily. The early acceptances have always seemed to correlate with class rank. My student had a strong SAT and GPA, and was deferred last year (also a legacy, extracurriculars, good recs, and non closed major). Competitive high school with lots of high stat/GPA students, but not in the top 15%. Don’t sweat a deferral, even though I know the wait is longer and agony!
My mom took one for the team and called about the “edit term” button. The lady wouldn’t elaborate much, but said that it means your decision is ready. She also said not to worry about it. However, all of my friends with higher stats do not have the button. So I’m thinking that people with it are likely to get deffered because their decision isn’t ready.
Wow, thank your Mom from all of us from the Button Team! And I agree w you…deferral is likely, and as I said before, hoping not a deny but I know it is possible.
That I haven’t quite figured out. I assume they look at the school profile and can figure out where a student is generally placed. GPA and tests probably get weighted more heavily.
I think it benefits your child if their school doesn’t have a class rank.
