Clemson University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

South Carolina uses a 6pt weighted scale, so it may be difficult to compare your WGPA. Clemson is pretty familiar with other states’ grading scales; they will also look at your UWGPA, SAT/ACT and Class rank. Even if your school doesn’t rank, GC’s usually publish a school profile that estimates deciles for ranking based on their state’s grading systems and your classmates’ WGPAs, Good luck!!

Thanks for posting this. I have DS25 and DS26 both with USC high on their lists, so learning from you all  Their school uses A-F with +/- except no A+. Do you have any idea how I would recalculate using the above? I guess I could just estimate. A- at say 92, A at 94, B+ at 88. And get close enough.

A -4
B -3
C -2
D -1
I think that’s the most common.

Thanks. yes, I know that. But USC uses the SC scale? So I’m wondering if they redo OOS to their SC scale? Or maybe they recalculate OOS to the more common scale. Would be nice to be able to accurately compare since the GPA they list on their website for the admitted student profile, I assume, is using the SC scale. Probably a question for our AO.

There’s no need to recalculate to the SC weighted scale; they’ll look at your student’s grades in the context of their school/state. I only posted it to show SC’s weighted grades are a little odd; since they use a 6.0 scale, it can make the gpa’s look a little higher.

They will recalculate the GPAs to a consistent scale or will fully understand the school’s context. There will be no disadvantage for students that have a different grading system.

So they should be announcing the official date tomorrow via email. During EA, I recived an email on the Monday before at about noon to announce that it would be that Thursday.

Will the EA deferred students find out if they get in on 15 February? Any guidance?

Just found the answer! If I receive a defer admission decision during Early Action, when will I receive my final admission decision?

Your application is deferred to the Regular Decision timeline, so you will receive an admission decision on in mid-February.

Yes. Everyone will find out on that day.

Reminder that the response can be accept, reject, or waitlist. I am hoping for accept or reject for my D24, even though Clemson is probably her top choice. Don’t want to drag out past the 15th for her sanity. She has some other good acceptances that I want her to focus on if she isn’t accepted to Clemson.

I hear you … a lot of “hurrying up and waiting “ throughout the general admissions process for all schools , with the continued FASFA delays lingering as well - been visiting all schools our DS24 was accepted in and really feel it’s important to see them and go to the designated admitted students days to keep options open - all have different + ‘s and - ‘s that come into play when narrowing things down - good luck to everyone !

Same. Please lord NO waitlist. We need to get rolling…

Just take waitlist as a rejection and move forward. If something does happen to open up, then that’s great and you can determine if you want to change your mind. But just move forward with another school if waitlisted.

Yes, I agree. Just not sure how my daughter will see it

Other possible responses may also include: 1) summer start (accept); and 2) bridged (accepted into Clemson Bridge program)

Yes, good point!

I’ve done that with two I’ve been deferred from…if I get accepted I’ll add them back in the mix, but now I’m focusing on the ones that I’ve gotten accepted at and really taking a closer look at what they offer!
