I’d be surprised if the date wasn’t somewhere on the semifinalist application because you HAVE to attend if you are a finalist. Last year, it was the end of April, but I think I remember reading or someone telling me that it was late March, early April this year.

Okay, from [The Pilot News - Students are semifinalists in prestigious Coca-Cola Scholarship program](http://www.thepilotnews.com/content/view/142644/27/)

“As semifinalists, students must submit additional information that will be reviewed in January 2010 by a committee comprised of 30 educators from high schools and universities throughout the United States. If these students advance, they will be among a total of 250 Finalists who will travel to Atlanta March 25 through March 28, to attend the Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend.
During their visit they will attend a final interview process that will determine whether they are designated as either a National or Regional Scholar. The 50 National Scholars will each receive a $20,000 scholarship award, while the 200 Regional Scholars will receive a $10,000 scholarship.”

By the way, whether it matters or not, once you are finalist, you are competing in regions. There are (I think) 10 regions with 25 applicants in each and five are awarded $20,000 and twenty are awarded $10,000. All those applicants have interviews with the same committee, thus there are ten committees. This really shouldn’t plague anyones mind, I’m just throwing it out there.

That’s good to know Mythbuster. Thanks.

Does anyone know what happens if you get chosen as a coca-cola finalist and can’t go to the finalist weekend? I’m in the running for a full ride at a college and if I make it to the finals I’m suppose to be on that college campus on the same weekend for interviews.

Thanks Mythbuster! I was worried about overlapping scholarship finalists weekend, but so far so good. :)

wait is this coco-cola scholarship still going on O_O? if so can you post the link. I cant find it. i looked at the website and couldnt find anything

^ azndarkvader, the last date to have applied for Coca Cola was 10/31. The students who are currently working on apps are the ones who are currently semi-finalists which was due 1/8. HTH.

I mailed my application on Jan.8 overnight…but totally forgot about the emory interests survey online. Will I be disqualified?

I just mailed my application overnight 2 days ago…but completely forgot to fill out the emory scholarship survey thing online. The website won’t let me sign in anymore b/c the deadline’s passed. Am I going to be disqualified? I’m freaking out…

hopefullyivy2, I believe that you are no longer eligible since you did not complete all of the application requirements. You might want to try calling them to receive a concrete answer.

JamesJr? For the portion of the application that had to be completed online, it was just our SSN and a few other things right? And there was a submit button for it?

If you can not go to the finalist weekend, unfortunately they won’t give you the scholarship because part of the weekend is an interview process for each level of the scholarship. There were a few people who cam late or left early (but were they for the main parts) and there was even someone who left and cam back. So if you can be there for most, it should be fine. You would have to contact the foundation for each individual case.

Hey i am a semifinalist and i am dying to find out who the finalist are… does anyone know how the selection is done? Or when we will know?
Thanks!

MaddieLee2000; My daughter is also a semifinalist. According to the web site, finalists are notified in “early February” (nothing more granular than this provided). However, information I’ve pulled from this site and other sources indicate that previous years have been around Feb 12 or 13.

Good luck to you and all the other deserving kids up for this wonderful opportunity!

Semifinalist here too, this is straight from the application checklist I got:
“Letters and emails informing all Semifinalists of their status will be sent by February 5, 2010. Finalists will receive complete information about the Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend in that notification. The Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend will be held in Atlanta, Georgia March 25 - 28, 2010. All Finalists must attend the Scholars Weekend in Atlanta, Georgia to receive a Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship.”

I am a semi-finalist and I am so nervous!! When and where are they posting finalists? Do you think it will happen early???

^ It appears that there is another active Coca Cola thread. See below

Speaking from first hand experience, you need to be there for your interview which is either Fri or Sat morning of that weekend - I went to my college scholarship session on Wed to Fri, then flew to Atlanta Fri nite in time for my Sat CC interview and did not forfeit my CC scholarship. I called the CC Foundation and explained the conflict and they scheduled my interview as late Sat morning as possible to enable me to make it - However, if I couldn’t make it there by Sat I would have not received the scholarship.

I think there are going to be a lot of conflicts this year as the last weekend in March is a big weekend for college scholarship events

I’m way excited! Thanks for the info dstfan! And collegeforme! :)
